NDLEA arrests 12 drug suspects in Gombe

12 persons have been arrested in connection with drugs.

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, in Gombe State says it arrested 12 drug suspects in some parts of the state.

The State Commandant of the agency, Aliyu Adole, made this known in an interview in Gombe on Friday.

Mr. Adole said the drugs sellers would be charged to court. He said the suspects were arrested in Balanga, Shongom, Dukku, Funakaye and Akko Local Government Areas of the state.

He said the exhibits seized from the suspects amounted to 116.25 kg.

The commandant said officials of the agency had embarked on sensitisation tour of some towns in Gombe South to educate people on the dangers of drug abuse.

He said the command had earlier arrested 16 suspects, who were arraigned and subsequently convicted in court. He said 13 others are currently being prosecuted.

Mr. Adole appealed to the Gombe State Government to fulfill its promise of providing the necessary logistics and rehabilitation centres for the agency.
