Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike

The Police in Rivers State have announced the lifting of ban on youth elections in the state.

The ban was imposed in April by the Police Commissioner, Musa Kimo, because of the security situation in the state then.

Mr. Kimo announced the lifting of the ban through a statement issued on Thursday by the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Ahmad Muhammad.

Mr. Muhammad said the ban was lifted after consultation with relevant authorities.

Any youth group wishing to conduct its election should give the police 48 hours notice for it to provide necessary security, the statement said.
