A 28-year old woman, Saliu Kafayat, has been arraigned before an Osogbo Magistrates’ Court for stealing dried fish.
Prosecutor Olaiwola Rasak told the court that the defendant committed the offence sometimes at about 2pm at Ahmadiya Sabo Area of Osogbo on November 4, 2015.
Mr. Rasak said Ms. Kafayat cheated Fatai Modinatu by refusing to pay for the dried fish.
He said the offence contravened Sections 421, 419 and 390(9) of the Criminal Code cap 34 Vol. 11 Laws of Osun state, 2003.
Ms. Kafayat pleaded not guilty to the three-count charge.
Her counsel, Raji Abiola, then prayed the court to grant her client bail in
the most liberal terms.
The magistrate, Olubukola Olowolagba, therefore admitted Ms. Kafayat to
bail in the sum of N200,000 for the alleged theft of dried fish valued
at N23,750.
Ms. Olowolagba ordered the defendant to produce one reliable
surety in like sum.
She said the surety must reside within the court’s jurisdiction, deposed to affidavit of means, show evidence of tax payment and attach two passport size photographs.
She adjourned the case till April 11 for hearing.
