Nasarawa Police arrest 38 in two months

The Nasarawa State Police Command says it has arrested 38 people for various criminal offences from October to November.

This was disclosed by the command spokesperson, Ugochukwu Theodore, to journalists in Lafia, on Monday.

Mr. Theodore revealed that the command, within the same period, rescued 20 people from the recent ethnic crisis in the state. It also recovered three live cartridges, 66 rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition and a car.

According to him, out of the 58 arrests made, five were suspected armed robbers; 11 suspects were arrested for illegal possession of firearms, ammunition and criminal charms.

Other arrests made within the period included one for kidnapping and attempt to commit culpable homicide, one for defilement and 20 in connection with the recent ethnic crisis in the state.

“I really wish to express my profound gratitude for the collaborative effort of members of the public and the press in providing us with useful information that yielded fruits which results are displayed today,” he said.
