Why I want to be Senator – Governor Uduaghan

Delta state governor, Emmanuel Uduaghan signing documents

The Delta State Governor, Emmanuel Uduaghan, has bought and submitted his Expression of Interest and Nomination forms for the Delta South Senatorial District election in 2015.

The forms were submitted at the Peoples Democratic Party State Headquarters in Asaba on Thursday.

Governor Uduaghan, whose forms were bought on October 17 by some of his political associates in the G3 at the National Secretariat of the PDP, Wadata House, Abuja, has expressed his deep appreciation to all PDP faithful and Deltans for their outpouring of love and support.

He equally promised quality representation at the Red Chambers.

In his words: “History is in the making and I have to heed the calls of my people who have severally urged me to go to the Senate after my tenure as Governor of Delta State.

“I will not disappoint them.

“I will, by the grace of God, give my senatorial zone quality representation.

“I also want to appreciate President Goodluck Jonathan and assure him that I will put all my national and international reach at his disposal.”

Meanwhile, the foremost political platform in the senatorial district, the G3, comprising Isoko, Ijaw and Itsekiri, has fully backed Mr. Uduaghan’s senatorial ambition.

The Secretary of the group, Solomon Funkekeme, said Mr. Uduaghan is the best the district can present at the National Assembly at this critical moment of the nation’s democracy.

Mr. Funkekeme said “his wealth of experience and leadership qualities stand him out.”

Also, the Isoko Advancement Network, IAN, has applauded the decision of Mr. Uduaghan to contest the senatorial seat, saying that the network is confident that the three ethnic groups that make up the zone be well represented in the Senate.

Speaking on Thursday in Asaba, the Chairman of the IAN, Mike Ogwa, said the Isoko nation is fully and solidly in support of Mr. Uduaghan’s senatorial aspiration and promised to mobilise the people of the district to back him.

Nigerian politics extraordinaire! Hear the Delta State governor: “History is in the making and I have to heed the calls of
my people who have severally urged me to go to the Senate after my
tenure as Governor of Delta State.” Yes, as usual, all ex-state governors will end up in the Senate, a place of retirement for them or a dumping ground? Something has to be done quickly to stop this influx of ex-state governors to the Senate. Very soon they will displace all other citizens in this part of the National Assembly. Everything in Nigeria is done to very ridiculous excess! It’s only in Nigeria that we have professional politicians who hop from one political post to the other until they die. Annoyingly most of these state governors have done nothing tangible when they were governors; some of them even crippled their states, stole all the money in their states; some are even facing the EFCC but still sit in the Senate! Good Heavens! Yes, Uduaghan’s people, according to him, urged him to run for Senate, as if these people benefit a dime from his stint as governor; maybe they would benefit if he became a senator? Very laughable.

As a governor Uduaghan did NOT give his people meaningful representation, it is when he goes to the Senate that he will do that! Clown! I want to laugh my head off. Can you imagine the Ijaw+Itsekiri+Isoko saying that Uduaghan is the ONLY person they can present from their zone… A clear indication that the zone is already full of dead men’s bones. Delta state the ONLY state full of DEAD MEN’S BONES!
