INEC to distribute 1.2million permanent voter cards in Nasarawa

The Nasarawa state office of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, says it will distribute 1.2million permanent voter cards in the state.

This was disclosed to PREMIUM TIMES in Lafia by the state resident electoral Commissioner, REC, Ahmed Makama.

Mr. Makama said the commission will recruit 3,000 adhoc staff which will include the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, members.

“We going to recruit about 3000 staff which will include two third NYSC and one third INEC staff,” he said.

Mr. Makama said that each of the 1,495 polling units in the state will be manned by two staffs that will oversee the distribution apart from supervisors that will supervise the exercise.

He said that the commission will hold a stakeholders’ meeting to sensitize major players and brief them on the importance of the exercise and take inputs on how best to ensure a hitch-free exercise.

He added that while the issuance of permanent voters card (PVC) will be conducted between November 7 and 9, continues voters registration will takes place between 10 and 13.
