Rustlers invade Senator’s farm, steal 72 cows

Cattle rustlers on Monday invaded a farm owned by Abdullahi Adamu, a senator representing Nasarawa West senatorial district and carted away 72 cows.

The rustlers, about eight of them, were carrying guns and cutlasses and threatened to kill farm guards.

Confirming the incident to PREMIUM TIMES, Mr. Adamu said the combined effort of the army and vigilante group led to the recovery of 15 of the cows.

Mr. Adamu said that the rustlers threatened the farm guard with guns before leading the cattle close to Agwada development area of Kokona local government where they abandoned few that could not make it.

He explained that the army was drafted for a search in the surrounding bush part.

“I am very hopeful that apart from the 15 that were recovered more will be rescued because the army is still combing the bush”.

Witnesses told PREMIUM TIMES that the rustlers came with sophisticated weapons and threatened to deal with anyone who stood in their way.

When contacted, Nasarawa State Police spokesperson, Ismaila Numan, said that he was yet to be briefed about the incidence.
