Gunmen attacked and killed a private security guard on duty at the Jos University Teaching Hospital, JUTH, Plateau State,on Wednesday, the police said.
The Spokesperson of the Plateau State Police command, Abuh Emmanuel, confirmed this to PREMIUM TIMES.
Mr. Abuh said the suspects had not been arrested.
“Yesterday, (Tuesday) at about 1700 hours, gunmen in a vehicle attacked private security men at the gate of Jos University Teaching Hospital JUTH. The armed men refused to be checked at the stop and search security post at the gate. They opened fire on the guards, one of them was shot, the victim was taken to the same hospital for treatment, but unfortunately, he died this morning (Wednesday.)
Mr. Abuh said the police are making efforts to arrest the suspects.
A witness said the gunmen who attacked JUTH were trying to force their way into the gate of the hospital.
PREMIUM TIMES gathered that the incident at JUTH created pandemonium as patients could not gain asses to the hospital because security men deployed to the scene stopped vehicles.
