Six men were ambushed and killed early hours of Friday between Shonong and Badok village of Riyom local Government Area of northern Plateau, a local official said.
Council chairperson of Riyom Local Government, Josephine Piyo, made the disclosure in an interview with Journalists in Jos.
“The victims were on their way from Shonong to Badok village and were ambushed and killed by gunmen,” Ms. Piyo said.
She said security agents had been informed of the incident.
“I reported the incident to the Special Taskforce on Jos crisis, STF, I believe by now they should have gone there,” she said.
A spokesperson for the military task force, Ikedichi Iweha, an army captain, could not be reached for comments.
His police counterpart, the Police Public Relation Officer of the Plateau state command, Abuh Emmanuel, confirmed the attack in a telephone interview, but said he had no knowledge of number of casualties involved in the incident.
Last week, 12 people from four villages of the same local government were attacked and killed by yet to be identified gunmen.
No arrest has been made till date.
