The Kogi state police command has asked resident to report anyone seen with gunshot wounds to the nearest police station or security agencies.

The Police spokesperson, Emmanuel Ojukwu, in a statement, said some gunmen who were wounded in a battle with officers of the Adogo police station in Ajaokuta, Kogi State, are on the run.

He said the police had repelled an heavy attack by the gunmen on the station on Sunday.

“The State Police Command is appealing to members of the public, to report anybody seen with bullet wound of any sort to the nearby Police Station or other security agencies, please,” Mr. Ojukwu said.

The gunmen were said to have unleashed the heavy attack from three different directions: Okene, Ajaokuta and another route.

Mr. Ojukwu said it was obvious the gunmen were intent on carting away police arms. He said the police successfully evacuated the arms from the station to safety.

He said police officers on duty returned fire, although the attackers launched a heavy dynamite which demolished and set part of the station on fire.

He also added that there was no casualty from the attack on the side of the police although some of the gunmen escaped with bullet wounds.

He said the area has been reinforced while frantic efforts are ongoing to track down the fleeing hoodlums.

Mr. Olalekan, as an educated person I believe you are, if you are going to dissect someone’s interview, I believe it is only right you take the interview in whole and not in parts. Picking up one or two lines from an interview that lasted up to 30mins to buttress your ill-conceived point shows clearly how mischievous you intend to be with your article. That interview is available in youtube in parts 1-3. You can search and listen again. To educate you a little before you listened and watched the interview again, Father Kukah said we should recognize that Jonathan took the part of peace, so that the country can remain united. Why is the current administration trying to make Jonathan look like a criminal when they have not even brought up any charges before him. He said the VP as a respected lawyer is in a better position to understand legal proceedings, as anyone is adjudged innocent until proven guilty. Father Kukah is concerned about the way APC is going about blowing the whistle daily before they even catch the monkey. He thinks APC is unnecessarily heating up the polity which might derail the peace process. He said the right process would be to first do your investigation, get your empirical evidence, then bring up the charges and prosecute. Olalekan, go back and listen to father Kuka’s interview again. To be a good journalist, learn the mastery of details.

If this is Father Kukah’s reply or an attempt to whitewash or modify what he said on his behalf, then it is dead on arrival. The question is what went wrong with him? Has the VP said anything contrary to what Buhari has said? Is Kukah not a Nigerian that his eyes cannot behold the effects of corruption on millions of Nigerians especially in the last 16 years of misrule? Pls if you are Kukah or acting on Kukah’s behalf, tell Kukah that though he is entitled to his own opinions but he should not insult our collective sensibilities by claiming Jonathan should be praised for conceding defeat in an election which he very clearly lost. I was clearly mistaken over years that the likes of Kukah or Ribadu could soil their reputation such as this. It’s just so sad.
