The Nigerian Police on Friday said Benson Eseni, the 87-year-old uncle of former Bayelsa Governor, Timipre Sylva, was killed and buried in a shallow grave.
The police paraded a 27-year-old suspect from Gburutu, Delta State, in connection to the death of Mr. Eseni.
The Divisional Crime Officer, Bello Ahmed, said that following a tip off, a combined team of security agencies and officials from Ministry of Health were led to border town between Rivers and Bayelsa.
According to Mr. Ahmed, on getting to Kula village near the border, they discovered a shallow grave and on excavation, the body of late Mr. Eseni earlier kidnapped on July 28, 2014 by unknown gunmen, was discovered.
He said that the body has been exhumed and is now under the custody of senior pathologists from the health ministry who are currently undertaking investigations to unravel the cause of the death.

The armed gunmen stormed the community in a speed boat at about 1am, shot in the air and whisked away the 87 years old retired Army Major.
The corpse, according to Mr. Ahmed, was removed and deposited at the Federal Medical Centre mortuary in Yenagoa for autopsy.
