Unknown gunmen have shot dead two people in Rafin Bwaunan Noma community in Bassa Local government Area of Plateau State, a witness and a security official said.

The attack occurred Sunday morning, according to Yusuf Usman, a community leader in the area.

He said the suspected attackers arrived from a neighbouring community.

The victims, 41-year-old Abdullahi Hassan and 14-year-old Hannatu Safiyanu, were shot, Mr. Usman said. Mr. Hassan was later beheaded, he said.

A spokesperson for the military Special Taskforce on Jos crisis, Ikedichi Iweha, said the attack was an armed robbery incident.

The Police Public Relation Officer, Abu Emmanuel, denied knowledge of the attack.

But Mr. Usman however said the victims were working on the farms when they were attacked.

“They surrounded them in a farm and fired them with guns,” he said.
