Kwankwaso warns elected Kano council chairmen against stealing public funds

Kano State Governor, Rabiu Kwankwaso

The APC won all the 44 council chairmanship and councillorship seats.

Governor Rabi’u Kwankwaso of Kano State has warned the recently elected local government officials, who have the intention of stealing public funds, not to come to the venue of their swearing-in ceremony on May 29.

The governor, who issued the warning while receiving the Dentists Association of Nigeria’s Prestigious Merit Award at Kano Government House, Friday, said members and supporters of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC,  are happy with the outcome of the election, which held last Saturday.

The APC won all the 44 council chairmanship and councillorship seats.

“If there are such people they should not join us because what we after is to continue serving the good people of the state since they have confidence on us, and they have shown that on the May 17th, local government election where 92 per cent of electorate voted for our party, the APC,” the governor said.

Mr. Kwankwaso said the outcome of the election has shown that Kano is an APC state as the total vote cast for APC was more than two million votes while the opposition party scored a little over 200,000.

On the rumour that the opposition is planning to go to court, Mr. Kwankwaso said “let them go and I’m sure they will just waste their money as people of Kano are with the APC government.”

He added that the opposition should also be happy with the APC victory as it shows democracy in action.

On the award by the Dentists Association of Nigeria, the governor thanked the association for finding him deserving of the award. He revealed that the state government has renovated the state dental clinic along Zaria Road and the dental section of the Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital through provision of modern facilities.

The governor urged wealthy people to engage in the establishment of standard dental clinics in the state as some go abroad to access such services.
