Opeyemi Ogunseye’s leg was amputated following a car accident that left her severely injured.
The Red Cross Society in Ogun State has pledged to solicit funds for the procurement of an artificial leg for Opeyemi Ogunseye, the 16-year old orphan whose leg was amputated following an auto crash.
The Senior Secondary School (SS3) student of Progress College, Oloke, Ogundiran Street, Oja-Oba, Lagos State sustained severe injuries to her leg when a reckless commercial bus driver rammed into her on her way to school. The victim, currently on admission at Federal Medical Centre, Abeokuta, during an interview, said her ambition is to become a Journalist.
The Chairman of the Red Cross Society, Ayotunde Kolawole, in an interview shortly after the society’s annual Walk Day in Abeokuta, expressed concern over the plight of the victim. He said the society, on behalf of the victim, will approach notable personalities, corporate bodies and government for financial assistance.
“We shall embark on intensive efforts to approach individuals, corporate bodies, government and other relevant associations to assist the patient,” Mr. Kolawole said.
The chairman emphasised that after raising the funds, the society will ensure that it is judiciously used for the purpose of rehabilitating the victim and helping her realise her ambition.
