Normalcy returns to Lagos petrol stations

Many Lagos petrol stations now sell at the approved price.

Normalcy seems to have returned to petrol stations in Lagos as most of them were seen selling petrol on Friday.

Observations showed that most filling stations in Lagos were opened to customers and had enough stock of petroleum products.

The Manager of Mobil Petrol Station at Maryland, Azeez Basiru, attributed the current availability of petrol to increased supply from the depots.

He said that the NNPC had increased the volume of petrol it supplied to Lagos depots.

Mr. Basiru said that supply of petroleum products had improved in Lagos since the beginning of the week.

“On Thursday alone, we were supplied two tanker-load of petrol and we are likely to still get one tanker of the product today.

“We hope that this trend will continue till the end of the year,” he said.

The Manager of a Mobil Petrol Station in Ikorodu, who preferred anonymity, said that most marketers were adjusting to the new situation.

He said that the availability of petrol in the state had forced many filling stations not to sell above the official price of N97.

“Those still selling above N97 will no longer enjoy the kind of patronage that they were used to,” he said.

A supervisor at Oando Filling Station in Ojuelegba, Tayo Odeleke, said that the repair of the vandalised pipeline at Arepo in Ogun State was responsible for current availability of petrol.

He urged the NNPC to sustain its current tempo of supply.

The Manager of Conoil Filling in Orile, Ganiyu Raheem, said he was happy that the era of scarcity of petroleum products had finally ended.

“NNPC should do all within its power to regularly make petrol available at filling stations,” he said.

The filling stations in Falomo, Obalende, Ikeja,Iyanapaja, Abule Egba, Ojota, Onipanu, Ojuelegba, Lawanson, Stadium Road, Orile, Ikorodu and Iponri were busy dispensing the products.
