Oshiomhole printed fake voters cards, imported thugs, PDP says

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) said it has evidence that governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo state printed fake voters cards and imported thugs from neighbouring states ahead of the governorship election slated for Saturday.

In a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Olisa Metuh,  the PDP said that “We have received reports that the ACN (Action Congress of Nigeria) has printed fake voters’ cards and imported thugs from neighbouring states to terrorise voters and precipitate violence on the election day.”

The party called on its supporter to be vigilant and report suspicious activities to law enforcement agencies.

Mr. Metuh added that the incumbent governor of Edo State has become desperate because of the signs that Edo People have rejected him.

“The people of Edo have noted with great disappointment that it has been a tenure of more talk, less action.  It is time to end this tenure of deceit and dashed hopes that has been the hallmark of the outgoing ACN administration in the state,” he said.

The PDP appealed to observers and the press to monitor and report the election in an unbiased manner, “in order to engender the confidence of the electorate in the process”.

The governorship election in Edo state is seen as a two horse race between incumbent Adams Oshiomhole of the ACN and PDP’s Charles Airhiavbere.

Mr. Oshiomhole had accused the PDP of orchestrating accidents that led to the death of some journalists covering his campaign activities; and the murder of one of his aides. The PDP denied the accusations, citing a Police report which allegedly exonerated the party.
