Ondo Governorship: PDP denies pact with Mimiko

The Peoples Democratic Party has denied media reports suggesting the party and the presidency have entered into a deal with Labour Party’s Governor Olusegun Mimiko of Ondo state to help him retain his position in the forthcoming governorship election in the state.

The PDP,  in a statement Thursday by its Deputy National Publicity Secretary, Binta Masi Garba, said such a report is “completely untrue”.

Ms Garba described the report as an attempt to deflate the rising profile and prospects of the PDP and its candidate in the election.

The party urged its supporters to disregard the report, and intensify efforts in the ongoing campaigns to ensure victory at the election.

On Wednesday, a national paper reported that Mr. Mimiko had gone into a pact with the PDP in what was described as a desperate move for political survival.
