Ogun journalists hold annual lecture


The Correspondents Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists {NUJ}, Ogun State, will on Monday hold its maiden Annual Lecture series with the topic “The Media and the Quest for Good Governance in the Midst of Insecurity”.

A statement by the chapel secretary, Abiodun Taiwo, and made available to PREMIUM TIMES in Abeokuta, said the lecture would be delivered by renowned national and international human rights activist, and President of the Campaign for Democracy, Joe Okei-Odumakin.

The chairman of the occasion is veteran journalist and former Ogun State Governor, Olusegun Osoba, while Speaker, Ogun State House of Assembly, Suraj Adekunbi, would be the Special Guest Honour, adding that the lecture would henceforth be an annual event.

Mr. Taiwo explained further that the lecture aims to stimulate growth and knowledge and forms part of the Chapel’s contribution to Nigeria’s development.

The event will hold at the Iwe-Iroyin Press Centre, Abeokuta.

The statement further said the military, para-military agencies, academics, students, political groups, organized labour, other professional bodies and the media have all signified interest in participating in the event.
