PDP preaches love at Easter

PDP Chairman, Bamanga Tukur

The Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) has sent warm felicitations to Christians on the commemoration of the death and resurrection of Christ.

In a message in Abuja by the National Publicity Secretary of the Party, Olisa Metuh, the ruling party said every Christian must emulate in totality, the life of Christ whose death on the Cross of Calvary brought redemption and hope to mankind.

“The National Chairman, Bamanga Turkur on behalf of the National Executive Committee, (NEC) rejoices with Christians in Nigeria and the world over on the occasion of Easter. At this challenging period in the life of our nation, I wish to enjoin all of us to continue to work together for the unity, peace and progress of Nigeria just like Christ the Prince of Peace whose supreme sacrifice over 2000 years ago brought freedom to mankind,”Said the statement.

“This year’s Easter offers us a good opportunity to soberly reflect on our relationship with God and our dear nation. The lessons of Esther which are summarized in sacrifice, love and forgiveness should guide every Nigerian so that in whatever circumstances of challenge, we should look inwards, show love and put our nation first.”

The party urged Nigerians of all faith to tolerate and live in peace with one another since neither Christianity nor Islam, the two major religions in the country advocates violence.

“Let us all embrace peace and shun the vicious sermons of those who urge us to violence as a way to settling grievances,” the statement added.
