PDP under me will focus on economy, not politics Bamanga Tukur says

PDP Chairman, Bamanga Tukur

The newly elected chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Bamanga Tukur, says the new National Working Committee (NWC) of the party under his leadership will focus more on the economy than on politics.

Mr. Tukur made this claim at the Wadata Plaza headquarters of the party in Abuja during the handover ceremony Tuesday.

“We have come to help the President focus more on the economy than on partisan politics,” he said.

The new NWC, according to Mr. Tukur, will also ensure that harmony continues to exist between the Executive and Legislative arms of government.

“We have come to ensure that both the executive and the legislature are on the same page – which is, to make Nigeria great economically, socially and politically,” he said.

Mr. Tukur promised that his tenure would be characterized by attempts in ensuring that the PDP transforms into a great party by being fair to all its members.

“We have come to be those neutral referees the PDP needs right now,” he also said.

Mr. Tukur  pledged that none of the newly elected members of the NWC or his personal staff would use their new positions as “platform for launching political careers”.
