Acting National Chairman of the PDP, Abubakar Baraje, has inaugurated a 75-man National Convention Committee to ensure successful conduct of the party’s convention on Saturday.
Inaugurating the committee in Abuja on Wednesday, Mr. Baraje charged the members to ensure that the election of the party`s National Working Committee (NWC) surpasses previous ones.
Mr. Baraje expressed confidence in the members and reminded them that “the eyes of the world are on the party’’.
He said that the party`s leadership would do everything possible to sustain the foundation laid during the primary that brought in President Goodluck Jonathan.
Ojo Madueke, the chairman of the committee, expressed confidence in the committee members.
He promised that they would ensure free, fair and credible election.
Ibrahim Bunu, former FCT Minister, Bamanga Tukur, Ibrahim Birma and Adamu Waziri are contesting the party`s chairmanship position.
Shetima Mustapher, Prof. Rufai Alkali, the party`s National Publicity Secretary and Abba Aji are also contesting the position.
The National Executive Committee of the party had, at its 57th meeting, adopted the zoning policy for the election of officials at all levels.
The national chairmanship position was zoned to the North-East, while those of deputy national chairmanship and the national financial secretary were zoned to the South-South.
