Materials for the conduct of the re-run elections into Anaocha/Njikoka/Dunukofia Federal Constituency and Idemili South State Constituency arrived late at the polling units on Wednesday.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that accreditation of voters could not start at 8.00am as scheduled.
NAN reports that as at 10.45am there was no accreditation in the constituency due to the absence of INEC officials.
The security operatives and the INEC ad hoc staff, comprising NYSC members were at Enugu-Ukwu Ward 1 in Njikoka Council Area, but regular INEC staff was not present to distribute voters’ materials.
NAN observed that voters in their large numbers were awaiting the arrival of INEC officials and materials to commence the accreditation.
At Ojoto in Idemili South and Anaocha and many other wards, where the elections were to be conducted, the story of late accreditation was the same.
Efforts to speak with the state Resident Electoral Commissioner, Chukwuemeka Onukaogu, proved abortive.
