The Nigerian Air Force has said the acquisition of new aircrafts has helped the military in the fight against Boko Haram terrorists in the Northeastern part of Nigeria.

Also marking his second year in office as the 19th chief of air staff, Mr. Amosun, an Air Marshal, said the acquired aircrafts include the King Air 350, Mi- Series Helicopter Gunship, UAVs and DA-42 Diamond Aircraft.

He said other areas that have witnessed improvements in the force are logistics and infrastructural renewal.

“I am happy to inform you that so much have been achieved for the NAF within the period under review,” Mr. Amosun said.

Mr. Amosun said the NAF have successfully installed and programmed newly acquired Harris 7850 multiband radios in the Northeast to aid operations against insurgency.

He said that achievements relating to reactivation and restoration of existing platforms including the C-130 aircraft, Super Puma Helicopter Gunship and DO-228 helped the air force play a pivotal role in the fight against insurgents.

The Air Force chief said the force has successfully conducted periodic deport maintenance and A-Check of Alpha Jet aircraft, C-130H aircraft, Mi-35P Heli and G-222 aircraft while also providing adequate spares for scheduled and unscheduled maintenance of aircraft.

Mr. Amosun said under his command, the force has continued to provide air support through armed reconnaissance, ground attacks, combat air patrol, close air support, intelligence, surveillance as evidenced in the on-going war against insurgency.
