A youth group affiliated to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Stakeholders’ Youth Group, has passed a vote of confidence on the National Chairman of the Party, Adamu Mu’azu, saying he remains a trustworthy, reliable and committed leader in view of his achievements since his appointment.
Mr. Mu’azu has come under intense criticisms recently owing to his party’s loss of the presidential election to the opposition All Progressives Congress, APC.
The group, comprising of youth who are members of the PDP across the 36 states of Nigeria, in a statement on Wednesday declared that castigating the National Chairman of the Party over the outcome of the Presidential election is unfair and condemnable.
They said Mr. Muazu should not been held responsible for the failure of the party at the poll.
The statement, which was signed by the National coordinator, Johnson Omanchi and Secretary, Mary Onyeachi, respectively called on the entire youth groups of the party in the country to rise up against the plan by some few elements within the party who are bent on pulling down Mr. Mu’azu in spite of his efforts at uniting the party towards making it stronger.
The group alleged that Mr. Mu’azu’s detractors are only being unnecessarily jealous of the achievements recorded by him since he became the PDP National Chairman.
The group quoted the National Publicity Secretary of Party, Olisa Metuh, as commending Mr. Mu’azu, saying ”as one of the founding fathers of the PDP, the National Chairman has continued to add immense value with his mature and decent approach to issues in keeping with the tradition and vision of our great party”.
The SYG therefore said it was disheartening that despite all his positives attributes and records of achievements “some callous people can still stay somewhere and cast aspersion on the National chairman of our Party who has been working with zeal and commitment to ensure a better and greater PDP in the country”.
