Armed men kidnap former NDDC boss in Calabar

Heavily armed men on Sunday stormed the residence of a former commissioner on the board of Niger Delta Development Commission, Dominic Oqua, and whisked him away to an unknown destination.

Mr. Oqua, a former deputy speaker in the Cross River State House of Assembly was ambushed and dragged out of his car while returning from a political meeting.

A source within the family, who spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to make any official statement, said, “I can confirm Honourable has been kidnapped. The incident happened at about 10pm (Sunday) and we don’t know where he has been taken to.”

Mr. Oqua, who recently decamped from the Peoples Democratic Party to the Labour Party was seeking to represent Bakassi, Akpabuyo, Calabar South Federal constituency, where he is considered to be a serious threat.
