Nigerian Government declares October 1 public holiday

The Federal Government has declared Wednesday, October 1 a public holiday to mark Nigeria’s 54th Independence Anniversary.

The Honourable Minister of Interior, Abba Moro, who made the declaration on behalf of the Federal Government, congratulated all Nigerians both home and abroad, urging them to build a more united and virile nation that would be the pride of all Nigerians wherever they live.

The Minister enjoined all Nigerians to use the public holiday to reflect on the giant strides made by government in the development of the country towards building a more formidable Nigeria, especially under the transformation and visionary leadership of President Goodluck Jonathan.

Mr. Moro wished all Nigerians a happy Independence Day celebration.
