Irate youth in Adamawa state, Saturday, attempted an attack on the Peoples Democratic Party Secretariat in Yola, they were however, unsuccessful as the police intercepted them.
The irate youths had made a bonfire in front of the secretariat , when they were suddenly dispersed by policemen dispatched to the scene.
The party’s secretariat is being used by members of the caretaker committee, headed by one Umar Damagun.
The caretaker committee was set up by the national working committee of the PDP and its legitimacy is currently being challenged in court by the dissolved state executive, led by Umaru Kugama.
The Adamawa Police Commissioner, Godfrey Okeke, who spoke on the incident, said the situation has been brought under control.
He said that the youths who tried to create problems at the secretariat, took to their heels on sighting the policemen dispatched to the scene.
Head of the caretaker committee, Mr. Damagun who spoke to reporters on the incident, alleged that the youths were sponsored to frustrate a crucial meeting of the party on Saturday.
