ptcij-insecurity

Background

Now more than ever, journalists and activists in Nigeria are exposed to cyber threats, hostile physical and psychosocial environments as they go about their daily work. It is important that these groups have the knowledge and tools to safeguard themselves and people around them.

As part of its Supporting Digital Security and Press Freedom in Nigeria project, the Premium Times Centre for Investigative Journalism (PTCIJ) with the support of Free Press Unlimited (FPU) is organising a workshop to train journalists and civil society practitioners on digital, physical and psychosocial safety. This training is to enable participants to gain skills to protect themselves as they work in potentially threatening situations and digitally volatile environments. It will also be a space for journalists and activists to discuss and learn how to deal with psychosocial impact of their work.
