Housewife bags 100 days imprisonment for opening neighbour's pot of food

An Abuja Senior Magistrates’ Court on Friday sentenced a house wife, Mercy Kingsley of Dape Village, Abuja, to 100 days imprisonment for assault.

Police prosecutor, Simon Emmanuel, told the court that on July 29, one Samuel Akpan, of same address reported the case at Life Camp Police Station.

Mr. Emmanuel said that the accused entered the complainant’s apartment and opened his food pot without his consent.

The prosecutor said that when the complainant asked why the accused opened his pot, she descended on him and inflicted injuries on his face and body.

He said that the offence contravened section 265 and 266 of the Penal Code.

The accused pleaded guilty.

Senior Magistrate Abdullahi Ilelah sentenced her to 100 days in prison with an option of N1,000 fine.
