Insecurity: Northern Governors Call Emergency Meeting

Disturbed by the protracted security challenges ravaging Northern Nigeria, the Northern States Governors Forum (NSGF) has fixed an emergency meeting of the regional body for today Thursday July 26, 2012.


Danladi Ndayebo, the Chief Press Secretary to Chairman of the NSGF and governor of the Niger State, Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu, said the meeting is an effort to end the security crisis.


“Northern Governors are determined to put an end to the cycle of violence that has led to the loss of several lives and properties in the region,” he said.


Mr. Ndayebo further revealed that “the meeting which is scheduled to hold in Abuja will come up with recommendations that will help return normalcy to the region”.


The Press Secretary added that, Secretaries to the Governments of the 19 Northern States will accompany their principals to the meeting.
