Sporadic gunshots fired by men of the Joint Task Force (JTF) in Damaturu, the Yobe state capital, had several residents scampering for safety.
The gunshots were fired along Gashua road in the North eastern state capital at about midday on Monday.
Some residents of the area told Premium Times that the gunshots were fired by the JTF after they raided a building suspected to be occupied by members of the Boko Haram.
Yobe state is one of the states in Northern Nigeria that has been hit by the extremist Boko Haram sect.
The state has also witnessed several clashes with security operatives.
Efforts to reach the JTF spokesman in the state were unsuccessful as he refused to pick his calls.
