The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Ogun State Command, says 10 persons died in 10 road crashes during the Eid-el-Fitri Special Patrol in the state.
Anthony Uga, Sector Commander of FRSC in Ogun, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday in Ota, that 41 other persons sustained varying degrees of injuries from the crashes.
Mr Uga said the 10 people that died comprised of eight males and two females while the 41 injured were 22 males,15 females and four male children.
The sector commander said they were able to stem cases of accidents to the minimum level through the special patrol operation which began on 8 April.

“Most of the road crashes recorded during the Eld-el-Fitri Celebration were caused by excessive speed and tyre burst.

“We are appealing to motorists to reduce their speed as most of the accidents could have been avoidable if the drivers used good tyres and adhere strictly to average speed limit,” he said.
Mr Uga implored both commercial and private vehicles to install speed limit devices and refrain from using expired tyres to minimise road crashes to the barest level in the state.
