The Chief Judge of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court, Lawal Gummi, has nominated two judges who will hold special sittings for hearing of urgent cases during the annual vacation of the court.
Those nominated are Justices Hussein Baba-Yusuf and Peter Affen.
The FCT High Court will proceed on its long vacation from Monday, August 6 to Friday, September 14 to end the Legal Year.
Mr. Baba-Yusuf and Mr. Affen’s appointments are contained in a letter with reference number FCT/JD/CJ 185/II/253, signed by the Chief Judge of the FCT high court Mr. Gummi on Friday.
The appointment, Mr. Gummi said, is in pursuant to Order 47, Rule 4 (1) of the Civil Procedure Rules.
He said that Mr. Baba-Yusuf of court seven in the Maitama High Court Complex and Mr. Affen of the Bwari High Court, were to dispose of all urgent matters brought before them which could not wait till the resumption of the court.
The other 37 judges will resume sitting on Monday, September 17 to usher in the new Legal Year.
