Gunmen kill retired DIG, 2 others

Gunmen on Tuesday killed a retired Deputy Inspector General of Police, Sale Ningi, in Sauna, Nasarawa Local Government Area of Kano.

An eyewitness said in Kano on Tuesday that the incident happened at about 6.15 p.m.

He said the gunmen, who arrived at the area on a motorcycle, also killed the driver and orderly before fleeing the area.

It was gathered that the late Mr. Ningi was in the area on a visit.

When contacted, the Kano State Police Public Relations Officer, Rilwanu Mohammed, confirmed the incident and said investigations are on to arrest the fleeing suspects.

He said the gunmen opened fire on the victims around Sauna industrial area.

“The incident happened some minutes to 6 p.m. and the bodies of all the three persons have been deposited at the Military Hospital mortuary in Kano”.

According to him, security operatives have been deployed to the area.
