Governor Amosun to construct air-conditioned pedestrian bridge in Abeokuta

The Ogun State Government on Monday announced its plan to construct the first pedestrian bridge in Abeokuta, the state capital. Governor Ibikunle Amosun says the bridge will be air-conditioned.

The bridge will be built around the famous Ibara roundabout of the ancient town, and is expected to reduce traffic congestion and accidents at the ever busy junction.

Mr. Amosun made the disclosure while commissioning the 2.5km Ibara-Ita-Eko road in Abeokuta which gulped a total of N1.3bn.

The governor says the on-going construction projects in the state are part of his administration’s “urban renewal programme”.

Mr. Amosun also said that the bids for 18 additional roads, that will cover about 147.5km, have been opened. The projects are expected to boost economic development and beautify the state.

The roads are: Somorin-Ajebo, 5.6km (4lane); Ikangba-Obalende-Lagos Garage-Oke Owa-Ilese, 20km (4 lane); Ilara-Ijowun-Eggua-Oja Odan-Ilase, 60km (2 lane); Sagamu/Benin Expressway Junction-Remo Secondary School roundabout-Isale Oko-Akarigbo street-Sabo-Oba Erinwole junction, 7km (4 lane); and many others.

this is bullshit were in the world you have aircondtion bridge…were is the electricty to power such bridge…nigerian permutation combination

    • Yimaol

@tonydykesuzie- the answer to your first question is DUBAI…….as to the second, ask Ogun state government

  • Sule

I have never heard of air-conditioned bridge. Is the governor a “drunken fisherman?” Please drop the word “air-condition”; there is no electric power supply. Instead, construct covered pedestrian bridges where necessary.

  • Abd’Roheem

Am I dreaming or hallucinating? Who is the governor intend to impress by this sheer stupidity? Are the indigenes of the state requesting for this as monumental development or what? Are they going to relocate into the bridge for redensvous or siesta? When graduates are wandering the streets for joblessness, lack of industrialization and bastardized public utilities, the governor is dreaming loftly to build an air-conditioned pedestrian bridge. My God something must be wrong with our so-called leaders.

AIR CONDITIONED BRIDGE? A MISPLACED PRIORITY. A BRIDGE IS MEANS OF ALLOWING TRAFFIC FLOW AND NOT A PLACE OF REST…..SO THERE IS NO NEED FOR THE AIRCONDITION. THE GUVNOR MUST HAVE BEEN “DREAMING DREAMS”

  • Olu-Olu

This is an issue of misplaced Priority !!!!!!
Where is the Power coming from when we lack stable Power supply.
You should better use this money to reconstruct dilapidated Ota roads with companies that paid your income taxes .
Escuse me sir ……….E rorii yin .

Bums will convert that to a home. Free AC na for here?

  • Obafemi Abdulai

Has the bridge been completed or the idea jettisoned? If completed, is it in use and functional till date including the air condition and how do the users feel in terms of comfort or do they take a nap there or shelter during heavy rains or on very sunny days?
