The Edo Consultative Forum, Lagos branch, has said that the killings in Edo are threatening peace and development in the state.
Matthew Aramude, the director of Publicity and Public Affairs of the forum, made the observation in a statement on Sunday.
In the statement issued at the end of the group’s meeting, Mr. Aramude called for an end to the killings.
He said that the forum is worried about the number of people killed in the last few months in the state in situations that seemed to be politically-motivated.
According to him, at least six persons have lost their lives in the crisis in Edo State. He insinuated that the killings in the state are senseless.
“All the political parties in Edo state, including the ruling party are run by Edo people. Those who are currently in power are Edo people. Why should anybody be killed because some people want to be in power?
“We, the Edo Consultative Forum, Lagos branch, condemn every killing in whatever name in Edo state. We say enough of the killings,” he said.
Mr. Aramude advised Edo people to elect a good candidate that would take the state to a higher level of development.
He called on all security agencies in the state, particularly the police, to rise up to the security challenges in the state and urged the people to always furnish them with necessary information.
