Unidentified gunmen, suspected to be armed robbers have killed a Lebanese national, Padi Ibrahim, and a Nigerian, Aliyu Nuruddeen, in Zaria, Kaduna state.Another Lebanese, Amir Drek, was also reportedly abducted.
All three men were said to be working for a construction company, Mothercat Ltd, the firm handling the Zaria Water Rehabilitation Project.
An eye witness to the incident informed Premium Times that the robbers mounted a road block very early in the morning at Kakeyi village in Zaria local government area of the state, where they ambushed their victims.The witness, who preferred not to be named, also explained that the victims were on their way to work at the treatment plant, when suddenly they saw the robbers and decided to turn around to save their lives.
The action drew the attention of the robbers who chased them in their car and instantly shot the two persons, leading to their death on the spot.
The robbers also kidnapped the other Lebanese and fled the scene with him in their custody.The spokesperson of the Kaduna State Police Command, Aminu Lawan, confirmed the incident and said the Police have commenced investigation into the matter.
