Commission suspends Permanent Secretary, four others for alleged pension fraud

The Federal Civil Service Commission (FCSC) has suspended the five serving federal civil servants recently charged to court in connection with allegations of monumental fraud at the Police Pensions office. The suspension takes effect from March 29.
The suspension order is contained in a statement issued in Abuja on Thursday by Deputy Director, (Press and Public Relations), Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Tope Ajakaiye,
The officers are Permanent Secretary, Atiku Kigo; Director Ahmed Wada; Assistant Director, JohnYusuf, and the Cashier, Veronica Onyegbula, as well as the ICT officer, Sani Zira.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) had arraigned the officers before the FCT High Court on March 29 on a 16-count criminal charge of conspiracy, criminal breach of trust and diversion of public funds totaling about N32.8 billion belonging to the Police Pension fund into their private bank accounts.
