Both Borussia Dortmund and Barcelona will be looking to start their Champions League group-stage campaigns on a bright note tonight as the two powerhouses face off at the iconic Signal Iduna Park.
The two teams have been drawn into Group F alongside Inter Milan and Slavia Prague, and it is shaping up to be a very interesting battle to secure the top two positions in the section.
According to reports, Lionel Messi is expected to be on the bench for Barcelona but Luis Suarez is likely to start at the Signal Iduna Park.
Messi only returned to training at the weekend following a calf injury and completed another session on Monday morning before traveling to Germany with the rest of his team-mates, but seems set to start as a substitute after not featuring at all for the Catalans this season.
Dortmund have plenty of recent experience when it comes to facing Spanish opposition, but they have actually never locked horns with Barca in the Champions League.
These two teams have only locked horns twice in European competition, with both of those matches coming in the UEFA Super Cup back in 1998.
Barca recorded a 2-0 home win before claiming a 1-1 draw in Germany to record a 3-1 aggregate success.
Having both excelled in their respective domestic games over the weekend, expectations are high for a good game tonight.
