President Muhammadu Buhari is set to receive his presidential nomination form as the group which purchased the form is expected to present it to him on Tuesday.

The presentation is expected be made at the new banquet hall by 11.30 a.m., journalists covering the presidency were told.

The Nigeria Consolidation Ambassadors Network (NCAN) obtained the form, Wednesday, to support Mr Buhari’s re-election bid.

The group paid the N45 million required by Mr Buhari to buy the presidential form of the governing All Progressives Congress (APC).

The group’s action came barely 24-hours after the formal announcement of dates for the APC primaries and fees for forms for various political positions by the governing party.

The cheque was received by the chairman of the APC, Adams Oshiomhole, in Abuja.

The president’s assistant on new media, Bashir Ahmed, announced the action and shared pictures of the ceremony on his Facebook page.

“While president Buhari is far in China, a group of good Nigerians bought expression of interest form and nomination form for him,” Mr Ahmed wrote then.

Mr Buhari is back from his official visit to China.

The NCAN said its members across states decided to pull their resources together to do this for the president.

“We have decided to pull our meagre resources together and purchase the expression of interest and nomination forms for President Buhari as he presents himself to our party members to be chosen as its candidate the 2019 general election.

“Our members from the various villages, local governments and state have contributed to making this happen. It is my singular honour and rare privilege to present to you a cheque of N45 million as payment for the expression of interest and nomination forms for President Muhammadu Buhari,” Sanusi Musa, the coordinator of the group, told the APC chairman.

The group said it believes in the president because ”he has both in words and in action worked to lay a foundation for a greater and a prosperous nation”.

Mr Buhari, despite opposition, recently declared his interest to run for a second term.

He is expected to slug it out with a gradually increasing pool of other aspirants from numerous political parties, with at least 14 already struggling to get the ticket of the major opposition party, PDP.
