A PDP national chairmanship aspirant, Bode George, has challenged other contestants to an open debate on their vision and agenda for the party.

This was contained in a statement issued by his political adviser and media aide, Uthman Fadipe, on Sunday.

According to the statement, Mr. George gave the challenge during his visit to party delegates in Sokoto on Saturday as part of his campaign tour of the country.

He said whoever wanted to lead the party should come a debate that would showcase the norms and traditional values of the party.

The former PDP vice chairman told the delegates that he was a committed party man who would deliver the best if elected.

He also said that the micro-zoning of the national chairmanship to the South-west would be in the best interest of the party.

Mr. George said this was in line with the resolve of the founding fathers to promote equity and balance in the distribution of party offices.

He praised the Sultan of Sokoto, Sa’ad Abubakar, for his patriotism and embracing of all Nigerians irrespective of their faith or tribe.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the party has fixed December 9 for its elective convention.

Impact Bode is the most qualified to head the PDP. Who among all the top looters in 5he country spent more years in prison than him? Since PDP is synanimous with looting who looted more than him and was found guilty? If you have to appoint a leader among thieves you should appoint one who truly answers the name.

Our democracy is growing to maturity. A debate is a good suggestion but i disagree with micro zoning of political offices because it reduces the parties to regional and ethnic political idealogy which we have being practicing for all long time without success. The political office should be thrown open for a fair contest to test peoples popularity and idealogy which will eventually give way for a genuine unity of this country based on what he/she can offer and not because he/she comes from one our tribe or region.
