You lie, Jonathan replies Farida Waziri

NIGERIA-CHINA-DIPLOMACY
Former President, Goodluck Jonathan

A former Nigerian President, Goodluck Jonathan, has responded to the allegation made against him by the former chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Farida Waziri, that he encouraged corruption to thrive when he was leading the country.

The Punch newspaper, on Sunday, reported that Mrs. Waziri claimed that the former president dismissed her from her job at the EFCC because she refused to “back down from the probe of one of the masterminds of the fuel subsidy scam”.

The paper reported Mrs. Waziri as saying that she was happy that her removal then ”has now helped her not to be associated with the alleged grand corruption that took place under Jonathan’s administration”.

“I’m only glad that those things didn’t happen under my watch as the EFCC Chairman because it would have been too traumatic for me.

“And that is why if I see President Jonathan today, I will kneel down to thank him for the honour done me by removing me as the EFCC Chairman at the time he did”, the Punch quoted Mrs. Waziri as saying.

The former president, Mr. Jonathan, took to Twitter on Wednesday to challenge the former EFCC chairman over the remark credited to her.

“If Farida is not telling lies she should mention the person or company she was investigating and she was stopped”, Mr. Jonathan said through his Twitter handle @GEJonathan.

“Let the @officialEFCC investigate”, Mr. Jonathan said, adding that “Crime has no statute bar. If she can’t then she was simply hired to attack me.”

Mr. Jonathan has been the butt of verbal attacks since his loss in the 2015 presidential poll with many accusing him of allowing corruption to thrive unimpeded while he held sway as president.

He has consistently defended his acts while in office by saying critics chose to focus on his administration’s shortcomings rather than its numerous achievements.

Over to you Madam Farida, Jona has thrown down the gauntlet

  • Whalerolex

A waste of my precious time reading this shit. I need to get more busy

  • NotTooComplicated

I will not advice Farida Waziri to be involved in back and front response with Mr. Jonathan. There are several reasons, but one of the main ones is it will not lead to anything useful. It will not make me to be convinced. To me, Mr. Jonathan has become too irrelevant as he’s administration opens the way for everyone to loot us almost to the point of strangulation. And as for Farida Waziri, we have no way of verifying if she’s lying or not. So no need trying to take credits for something you couldn’t provide evidence for.

No Sir! Murtala Mohammed Institutionalized corruption, Babangida made it official and Sani Abaca made corruption the thing of envy and without any kind of control. OBJ left prison with 20000 naira and at the end of eight years he became one of the richest in Africa. We blame Jonathan because the current thieves are blaming him. Even Buhari himself has not accounted for the 2.8 billion naira traced to his Midland Bank account in London while he was minister of Petroleum resources. Isn’t 2.8 billion naira then currently 5.6 billion dollars? Multiply that by 360 as the official exchange rate, and you will find a warping 2.016 tr naira embezzled by Buhari. Jonathan is not the worst leader we have had in Nigeria. It is just because he happens to come from a minority tribe in Niger Delta and that is why many hate him. Am not from there but I understand the smear tactics of this government. Wait till 2019 when this government is out of power. Since they opened the can of worms they should be ready to feed from the worms come 2019. How many of you are asking Baru to account for the $26 billion recently missing from NNPC accounts? Do you think the President is unaware of the whereabouts of this money is? Isn’t he the Petroleum Minister? How many of you are calling for Baru’s head? Isn’t he still GMD NNPC? How many of you are calling for the heads of Danbazzau and Malami who smuggled in Maina, a wanted man into the country and promoted him to Director with the full knowledge of the president? How many of you are calling for the probe of Gen. Buratai? How many of you even know that three local government areas are still under Boko Haram control in the NE? Many of you simply rely of the lies that Deacon Femi Adesina and Liar Mohammed feed to the public. It time for you to use your brains rather than allow them to be washed away!

This woman’s era at EFCC is better forgotten. She should just withdraw from our consciousness. She was a disaster. As for Jonathan, you need to bury your head in shame. Everything about and around you encouraged corruption. Why didn’t you prosecute the fuel subsidy thieves?

    • government

Why should GEJ “bury his head in shame”.

      • Arabakpura

Because the more he talks or responds, the more he ridicules himself; and when they pull him to the law courts to seek the truth, he will request for $1bn appearance fee!

  • Man_Enough

My candid advice to President Jonathan is not to respond to every issue. Even if the woman cannot probe anything we all know that he never took any step against the humongous corruption in the oil sector which thrived in his time.

  • KBE

Farida is looking for relevance and new political job and Jonathan is a convenient target for anyone who want that from Buhari.

  • Dan Arewa

    Shut up GEJ.
You are a monumental failure to Niger Deltans and Nigeria at large.

  • Dr Pat Kolawole Awosan

fFormer presdient Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, earned crown as the Nigeria-presdient, who encourages stealing, looting and embezzlement, from our national public treasuries anjd asset, as Dr Goodluck Ebele Jonathan,s slogan is stealing from public treasuries are not corruption crimes.Under GEJ. six years of leadership of Nigeria for six years, NNPC was turned to daily ATM as his then oil minister, Mrs Diezani Alison Madueke,is currently under house arrest facing bribery and money-laundering crimes charges of the National Crime Agency, in London,UK

    • suleiman

And stealing has stopped since 2015 ko? We are yet to hear any news about the $26 billion NNPC unaccounted monies being swept under the carpet. The last time i checked Baru was till the GMD NNPC, Danbazzau is still Minister of Interior and Maami is still Minister of Justice. And what about the Maina saga, the Babachir and many others? That is not stealing, right? Shame on you! Some of you simply have no shame
