No election in Southeast Nigeria without Biafra referendum — Nnamdi Kanu

Nnamdi Kanu
Nnamdi Kanu

The leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu, has warned that elections will be boycotted in the South East states starting with the Anambra State gubernatorial elections scheduled for November 18 if the Federal Government fails to hold referendum for the realisation of the state of Biafra.

“If the Federal Government does not agree with us on a date for referendum, there will be no elections in the southeast, we are starting with Anambra come November this year. There will be no governorship election in Anambra State”, Mr. Kanu said while addressing a crowd of protesters in his father’s compound in Abia state.

It is not clear when the video was shot. If it happened after Mr. Kanu’s release from detention in April, then it would appear a violation of conditions set by Justice Binta Nyako when she granted Mr. Kanu bail in April.

Mr. Kanu, who is facing charges of treasonable felony at the Federal High Court in Abuja, has been at the vanguard of the call for an independent Biafra Republic from the Nigerian state.

In granting him bail in April after more than a year in detention, Justice Nyako listed 12 conditions, including an order for Mr. Kanu to avoid being seen in a crowd of more than 10 people.

The court also instructed that Mr. Kanu desist from granting interviews or engaging in any form of rallies as part of his conditions for bail.

However, in the 16 minutes, 21 seconds video posted on Youtube, Tuesday, Mr. Kanu who is seen speaking to a congregation of Biafran supporters also said there would be no form of election in the Southeast during the 2019 general elections, stressing that he would not relent in his agitation for Biafra.

“In 2019, the whole of Biafra land will not vote for any president. There will be no Senator, there will be no House of Reps, there will be no House of Assembly and there will be no Councilor-ship elections in Biafra land if they (federal government) fail to call for a referendum.

“Nigerian government should build as many prisons as possible to jail all Biafrans because there is no going back and we are ready to go there (prisons) unless the federal government gives us Biafra.

“We are not like any other people. People like us don’t come twice. That’s why I know that with the last breath in this very body that Biafra will be restored. There’s nothing anybody can do about it. Tell them that’s what I said. Nobody on this earth can stop Biafra,” the IPOB leader said.

Since the IPOB leader was freed, he has not only addressed hundreds of his supporters but has also granted media interviews.

Last month, while addressing the members of the Jewish Synagogue at his residence in Isiama Afaraukwu Ibeku, Umuahia in Abia state, Southeast Nigeria , Mr. Kanu declared that the coming of the Republic of Biafra was imminent.

Similarly, Kanu had told Al Jazeera that he was not bothered about landing in trouble over his actions due to the bail conditions given to him Justice Binta Nyako of an Abuja Division of the High Court.

Which other regions? Niger Delta has since said it would not participate. It wants 100% resource control, relocation of NNPC headquarters to Niger Delta, sack of all Non Niger Deltans in the corporation etc. The wahala is plenty my brother. There is no way 9geria will survive this. Time has come.

      • marcos avelino

What niger delta , its also a contraption let every tribe rule their local government as a sovereign country

        • Francissca

Malta has a population of 400,000 people and Nigerian die in the Mediterranean trying to seek economic asylum and greener pastures in that Island country run by humans. All states of the Niger Delta have population that dwarfs that of Malta, Qatar, Kuwait, Finland, Eritrea, Sirrea Leone, Liberia, Estonia, Georgia etc

      • amazing2012

Nigeria is protected by God and have survived more than this noise. God will not allow 180 million to die or suffer because of few satans like you. The only that I assured is and your likes will not survive because that is what is in your mind and so shall see in your life !

        • omnia1

STOP USING THE NAME OF GOD IN VAIN! NIGERIA-BIAFRA MARRIAGE IS PLAIN UNADULTERATED EVIL.Nigeria is like forcing Turkey, France, Britain and Italy to be one nation.

During the 20th century a number of troubled nations dissolved themselves to avoid continuing ethnic conflict: Norway, Singapore, the Slovak and Czech Republics, former Soviet states etc. Norway-Sweden dissolved in 1905; Singapore-Malaysia dissolved in 1961; Czechoslovakia dissolved in 1992. All these unions were more successful than Nigeria, BUT TO SAVE LIVES, the parties decided to go their separate ways.

Among the wastage of lives to retain troubled national unions, Nigeria’s is the most catastrophic: Biafra cost 3 million lives (in contrast Chechnya has cost 200,000 lives; Yugoslavia, 260,000; Kashmir, 60,000; Sri Lanka, 70,000 and so on). You are amazingly demonic to justify such human sacrifice (which continues to this day)?

Nigeria must dissolve like the toxic marriages of Pakistan-India, Bangledish-Pakistan; Indonesia-Timor; Singapore-Malasia; UK-Ireland; Eritrea-Ethiopia and so many others (even Egypt and Sudan used to be one country; today 3 countries have emerged from that one country).

Nigeria is the ONLY British colony of its size that has not been divided for a better outcome. Britain that created Nigeria has divided in our lifetime (into Britain and Ireland) and is preparing to divide again twice (externally via Brexit and internally via the second Scottish referendum). Why are some hearts so evil that they want future generation to grow up in this messy and deadly contraption you call a nation? God forbid!

          • amazing2012

I agree with all you said: then leave !

          • omnia1

Referendum first. I cannot impose my will on others. There must be a process!

          • amazing2012

..but you are forcing Igbos who have no will to join your death trap idea. The world is free, if you are tired of one place please move to another. Must you cause deaths of others ? If you are a loser must other also become loser?

          • omnia1

There is no connection between self determination and death. You have gone 360 degrees from using the name of God in vain to being a merchant and harbinger of death. Just because you want to deny human beings like you self-determination. Do you not have any shame?

          • amazing2012

Eveything is connected to everything at certain level, degree, frequency, distance and ratio, only sense and knowledge can connect it. I dont blame you because you dont have sense and you are empty in knowledge. Any self determination that is founded on hate, conflict, and violence, the process to the end will be on that premise.
Igbos have over 20 million people out of igbo land and trillion of Naira assests. Even if the self determination is succeeded in peace and harmony, who will buy their properties? Where will 20 million go to in the east and how ? Your problem is that you believe Igbos will still stay in Nigeria after actualization of Biafraud. They must be forced out of Nigeria to their country to process their papers (passports and secure visas) to come back if they wish to do so. You can seethe crises ahead. However, since you want ot leave and agitate and NO ANY IGBO LEADER COME OUT TO CONDEMN IT, OR GO AGAINST IT, THEN YOU GUYS SHOULD LEAVE, THE ROAD IS FREE !

    • SAM .A

Don’t worry the another group of Ibos have risen and will participate and share the posts among themselves . A house divided against itself . It is indeed become interesting .

    • Julius

      Indeed..I already predicted that.

  • Gary

Tell us anywhere election boycotts achieved anything other than isolate the proponents. Dummy.
Go ahead and cut off your nose to spite your face.

    • emmanuel

Don’t worry. Wait and see. Shebi Bokohari and his killer Army will come into houses and force people to participate and vote? We shall see. We told you few years ago that we needed our own independent republics and you said no. Instead you supported Boko Haram …and then Fulani Herdsmen. Whenever they kill, you guys ignore the story and fail to comment. When they say EFCC is looking for money belonging to Patience Jonathan, then all of you will begin to post comments here and there, and enjoying yourselves as Nigeria sinks and stinks. Parasites! Hypocrites! You can’t even tell yourselves the truth.

      • Julius

Mouth, mouth…empty barrels makes the most noise. Just do it, enough of noises. We shall see. I bet you, your people will participate in the elections. Period !

    • Julius

Dont’t pay them no mind, their elites and politicians that makes their living thru politics in Abuja and everywhere else won’t allow them not to vote.

  • Onome Whiskey

The Niger Delta is right on the same page with the republic of Biafran on this one. No referendum, no elections in South (Niger Delta). Period. The Yorubas (West) and Hausas/Fulanis (North) can hold elections. They are Nigerians and that’s their business. For those of us the RESOURCE owners from the South & East, we shall no longer participate in any elections, census, October 1 celebrations, and etc and any other event recognized by Nigeria UNTIL there is a referendum conducted with international observers in attendance. Enough is enough. I am Niger Deltan. I am not Nigerian.

    • marcos avelino

Why not have Ijaw republic and Itshekiri and Urhobo and ibiobio … etc republics. Niger delta is also a very recent artificial contraption . Lets scatter into 300 countries ruled by tribal warlords.

      • Onome Whiskey

Don’t worry. Don’t fret. Don’t cry more than the bereaved. We Niger Deltans know ourselves. We have a common bond, natural and esoteric. Even the cosmic powers have sanctioned this endeavour. We are a homogeneous people. That old trick of divide and rule works no more. Did you not read the ultimatum given to the Northerners to vacate Niger Delta by Oct 1? It was a joint statement issued by freedom fighters from all ethnic variations in the Niger Delta. We are one. So you can go hug a transformer right away.

Norway has 4.3million people and it is a country. Delta state has 4.6m people. Rivers has 6.6m people. In other words, Delta state as well as Rivers state have more than the population and resources they require to be a nation. There is no going back.

  • art mon

Premiumtimes is biased and anti Biafra…I have stopped reading your dirty journals

    • Powerlessconscious

But vanguard is good for you. A fake media channel.

      • art mon

        ok sir lie mohammed

  • Nicodemus

    Gbam!

The beginning of the end. This is civilization in action. It is what Buhari should have done instead of protesting from the forest. Kanu and the Igbis have forests too in the North East of Biafra but they chose an educated and civilized path. Honestly it is good to pass WAEC.

    • marcos avelino

So your father and grand father if you have any ( from baby factory ) are no good then ?

  • Domingos

“It is not clear when the video was shot. If it happened after Mr. Kanu’s
release from detention in April, then it would appear a violation of
conditions set by Justice Binta Nyako when she granted Mr. Kanu bail in
    April.” —– Premiumtimes

Now I am convinced that the reporters and Editors of Premium Times are suffering from irreversible mumudity. If not so, why has this news medium not expressed such sentiments when the Nigerian state makes no attempts whatsoever to name Suicide bombers, killer Fulani herdsmen etc whenever these animals strike and kill Nigerians? If these endless killer extremists have their freedom to roam the streets, markets, bus terminals and elsewhere to attack Nigerians, then why should a harmless Nnamdi Kanu who bears no arms and encourages none to bear arms be a security risk worthy of such uncivilized castigation by Premium Times? This evil govt has freed Boko haram members for the ridiculous reason of “lack” of evidence and released scores of violent terrorists captured by the previous regime (Jonathan’s) on the pretext of releasing Chibok girls…and Premium times never saw any risk in that but in Kanu. Shame on you.

    • Arabakpura

It looks like we have to adopt that word “mumudity” into our lexicon!

    • Sharp Sharp

We dare your Zoo government to try

      Kanu is your president.

He will also preside over the Isoko, the Urobo, the Ijaw, the Efik and the
host of them around them. But, please let them mind their border this

Buhari is now dumb. His memory is gone. Haba PT!…Haba!……………….Were it to be President Jonathan losing his memory in London hospital and teling his health carers that he is in Sokoto and not London, and then becoming dumb, wouldn’t you (PT) be reporting the situation by the seconds? But now you pretend that you have not heard that Buhari is now unable to open his mouth. There is God oH!

    • Jayjay

More grease. Please, leave our land and go home you all to your biafra.

Igbos have in this generation so called disregarded humanliness and humanity.
They disrespect their hosts!!! They call the yorubas that host them
yorubastards, yorubrats, evil people, and spit on the faces of them that
take them in. They call the northerners animals, cows, and give their
dogs the names of national president and celebrate it among themselves.
more than half of the entire population of ibos live outside of their home
states, yet, they have no regard for other tribes. They have acronyms
for all types of tribes where they live. They assume that your house
belongs to them because you house them. They even want to claim and take
possession of your wives and children under your own roofs.
      Ibos
love to shout you down and suppress your voice to nothing whilst they
ride over you as the horse rider does on his, and yet, they want you to
not grumble. They claim that their land is the land of the rising sun
and that they are the only human beings on earth, the rest are
unintelligent and fourfooted beast that don’t even deserve to live at
all. If you take their side, it is because you had no choice, if you
stand against them, it is because you hate them. If you give them, it it
because it was theirs in the first place, if you don’t, it is because
you are an eye saw and your land a wasted land and a dunghill.
i don’t even want to talk about crime and violence, which impunity has
sunken into the throats of other passive tribals and youths of today.
They mess up the name of the country outside so much that, in some
countries in the far east, people who have never been to africa are able
to even speak some ibo languages, curtesy of ibo prisoners in jail in
their land. They call nigeria the curse of africa and ibos the curse of
nigeria. They have not even been in africa before.
No one hates the ibos, its just that the ibos hate everyone. And there seems to be
nothing that anyone can do about it. How could you have hosted someone
for fifty years and the same person turns around to tell you you hate
      him.
How many non ibos are selling in their five states? How many of other tribes can even be found in the ibo land.
I personally hosted three of them in this country where I have lived for
over twenty years. I welcomed them as my own brothers, but that single
handed mistake nearly cost me my life. They vandalized my property and
looted my vital documents and even attempted to kill me, if God wasn’t
with me, I wasn’t gonna be here to tell my story.
let the ibos examine themselves. The ant that hurts the ibo is hidden right in between his balls and his right foot

      Their
use in the greater nigeria has long expired. Not because of the
intetion of others towards them, but because of the fact that they MUST
let you down. The sooner the better. if you let them go with whosoever
chooses to go with them, the better, safer, and smoother the rest of us
will live. This one of having to sleep with your eyes opened surely will
      be over.

Let the government grant this biafra even without referendum. Let the ibos go home and let the rest of us have peace.

We are sick sick and sick of these people.

Whosoever chooses to go with them should go. The rest of us will manage and build a better and stronger country.

      Must
they abuse you because you don’t share their ideologies? Look at their
biafran map. They even include parts of Ondo State. Can you imagine the
      insult?

But Note, Enmity is an incurable diseases, of which that exactly what you are suffering from ( Enmity Syndrome ) and it leads to untimely death ( heart failure ).

And for your information Biafrans Detest all of you anti Biafran Sovereignty, more than your imagination, so all of you anti Biafra should go and commit Suicide.

IPOB never call for war but referendum, but if you, Selfish fools and haters of human freedom, chooses to go for war before Biafra will be establish so be it.

      Amen.

Haba PT. INEC announced November date for Anambra elections in February 2017. Kanu was in prison then. This can only mean one thing about when he made the statement. Simple research by the editor

  • Kayode

We begged you to go your fathers came begging on there knees that u don’t have anywhere to go to now u r making mouth gorilla

  • FreeNigeria

“Nigerian government should build as many prisons as possible to jail all Biafrans because there is no going back and we are ready to go there (prisons)” You shouldn’t have posted bail. You should have just stayed in jail.

    • Otile

The certificate forger sent him to an illegal jail, but karma sent the forger to a worse jail. Today forger does not know the difference between Landan and Sakwoto. Pathetic

  • Jeno Cosi

The last time Kanu was locked up, he went from a radio personality to a prophet. I guess if they lock him up again, he will end up a Messiah of the Biafran cause.

    • Julius

lolz. I was about to say that. Most criminal sees the light , becomes religion in prison. Look at the transformation of kanu.

    • Jayjay

He will become the idol of the biafran race. Whosoever that shan’t worship him as a biafran, let him die the death… SHIOR

    • thusspokez

… if they lock him up again, he will end up a Messiah of the Biafran cause.

He would end up nothing if he is sentenced to death for treason and threat to national security.

      • Jeno Cosi

No siree, he will become a martyr which is what he wants.

        • thusspokez

A martyr in his grave. BTW, how many people today, still remember Ojukwu?

          • Jeno Cosi

I see that you are not playing with a full deck. The present governor of Anambra State is running for re-election using Ojukwu’s image. Here you are speculating about who remembers Ojukwu. First of all, Ojukwu died a hero not a martyr. Maybe you need to look up the difference. I won’t respond to you anymore. You appear to be a hired hand who is also very shallow.

          • 0tile

The nincompoop is an empty vessel.

First of all, Ojukwu died a hero not a martyr. Maybe you need to look up the difference.

            (1) This was the coward who abandoned his people: ran away, leaving biafra child soldiers to protect them.
            (2) This was the man who promised his people, before he did a runner — to use the English vernacular — that he will not return to Nigeria as a Nigeria. Hahaha!

Some kind of hero! You must have very low requirements and threshold for your heroes.

          • Paschal Charles

OJUKWU remains a hero in the heart of Biafrans . You can only say this your nonsense online. Come to Biafra land and say this nonsense and see if you will go alive.

          • thusspokez

Are you implying that biafrans are the ‘boko haram of southern Nigeria’, i.e., barbarians, and relics of the primitive age ready to maim and kill anyone they disagree with?

      • 0tile

Was your god Mohamed Buhari sentenced to death? Violence and death are always in your mind, you are bound to perish in tragedy because you live and die as you think.

        • Paschal Charles

You mean the one already in the mogue who said over his dead body will Biafra come?

    • Gill? lol

  • Andrew Abali

    Dear my fellow Biafrans.
I support your struggle 100% but my problem is your approach.
I would want to suggest the following procedures and i can
assure u its going to work out successfully. if you can unite and
follow the following 10 steps then i can tell you, welcome to the
    Republic of Biafra in advance.
    «««STEP 1»»»
withdraw all your services from Nigeria and render the Nigerians
as you are the backbone of the country.
    «««STEP 2»»»
Withdraw your kinsmen who are public office holders e.g Ike
Ekweremadu, deputy senate president, Peter Obi the D.G of
    S.E.C
    «««STEP 3»»»
Reject all the ministerial nomination from the so called Nigeria.
    «««STEP 4»»»
    Endeavour to reject Federal Allocation.
You are very industrious people you will be better off without it
    «««STEP 5»»»
Stop all form of importation through the Nigerian sea port so
that Nigeria will crumble without your Tax
    «««STEP 6»»»
Recall all your sons and daughters from all parts of Nigeria to
relocate to home untill this fight is over then Nigeria can beg
them to come back as expatriate.
    «««STEP 7»»»
Lock up all ur shops in idumota, Alaba international, Kano main
market, and every other market even in the remote villages
    accross the country.
    «««STEP 8»»»
Go beyond closing of the Niger bridge stop all Nigerians from
buying or selling in Onitsha Main market or Ariaria market in
    Aba.
    «««STEP 9»»»
Make sure u make ur Visa very hard for Nigerians.
    «««STEP 10»»»
This fight can be achieved without Violence just like south
Sudan. Finally, make sure you don’t fight it with weapons.
    Igbo kwenu!!! hee!
    »»««
and i just want To Make Common Sense.
    …copied

South Sudan was granted independence through violence.

      • Otile

That violence was unnecessary. Sudan only give up after South Sudan gave them some oil fields. So you know that Islamic Nigeria and Islamic Sudan cannot survive without oil from the South. They would commit genocide than let people go their way.

    • thusspokez

You are forgetting that Nigeria did very well during and after the civil war without the Igbos. Also post-war Germany went on to be one of the wealthiest country in the world without the Jews.

    • Dan maikoko

In fact item six is enough to bring Nigeria to its senses and either beg the ibos to stay in nigeria or give them biafra.

      • thusspokez

Some of you suffer from delusion of grandeur; and grossly exaggerate your abilities and capabilities.

How many non-Igbos, would you say is attracted to and live in the South-Eastern states compared to the number of Igbos who abandon their states to go and live in other states? And yet you think that non-Igbos need Igbos rather that other way round?

        • Otile

You sound so_idiotic. Beside Lagos and Abuja built with oil money which other city in Arewa and South Waste is developed? Parasites, you are about to lose it all,

  • Factsay

Have they arrested the Northern youth leaders yet?
Anybody who arrest any Igbo leader is asking for wahala.

This nincompoop went around the world insulting Nigeria and seeking donations to buy arms with which to destabilize Nigeria. He is not sentenced to death but freed and therefore empowered to further threaten the security of Nigeria? I despair for Nigeria! Ken Saro Wiwa was killed for far lesser charges.

BTW I didn’t know that wrapping bed-sheet over oneself is a high fashion in Igbo culture.

    • and who knew supporting rapist was your culture?

    • 0tile

Mohamed Buhari committed high treason by staging an illegal coup against Nigeria, but today nincompoops like you are worshiping him. Are now capable of blocking me? Nonsense

  • UNAFFECTED

If only Nnamdi will go into Umuahia villages and listen to public opinion, he would fully understand that he doesn’t speak for Igbos. I don’t blame him, I blame us and our failure over the years to understand that information is power. Radio stations would rather eulogise governors (no matter the riff raff in office) and play Christian melodies than provide their listeners with valuable information. And why do they have more programmes in English than in Igbo? No newspapers since the demise of The Statesman and the Daily Star. Look at the Tide. Just garbage journalism. I never watched a good documentary about the East (mind you I don’t believe in the core Igbo nonsense) all the while I was growing up in Umuahia. Besides, I have regualrly informed whoever cared to listen that all Nigerians are marginalized. The politicians did not single any ethnic group out. We are having a raw deal. And like Ojukwu (During the war, his servants in Enugu wore white gloves to serve him), Nnamdi is now acting like a Fuhrer. His supporters kneel to greet him and women lay their wrappers on the ground for him to walk on, while he himself cannot decide whether to be a Jew or Igbo. He should shut up and find a job.

Ikemba Odumegu Ojukwu is a well educated and a respected Nigerian. He said and I paraprase him ” I proudly led the Biafran war and I’m proud to say it, but there is no reason for another war. Tho cost of human lives lost on both sides was too much and those asking for another war need to learn from history. That is a wise man I will conclude because thiose of us who are old enough during that war can say that it will take a moron to tinkle with another for the consequences will be unimaginable

    • thusspokez

Another civil war will reduce the Igbo population again put then fourth, fifth or sixth largest ethnic group from the current position of third. Igbos are not very smart and are often their worst enemies.

      • 0tile

How does asking for ones freedom equate to asking for war? Only a dummy will see freedom as warfare. Nigeria does not have to invade Biafra, simply allow them to go their way. Can’t Nigeria survive without Igbo race? The mantra of_idiots nowadays is Igbos are their own worst enemies. None of these_idiots is smarter than a single Igbo child, above all anybody who has yoruba friends needs no more enemies. Traitorous tribe.

      • SayNo2Tribalism

I disagree with your generalisation! All tribes in Nigeria have very smart people. That some people are shouting Biafra does not mean that all Igbos support it.

        • thusspokez

Don’t be daft! And I don’t need your lectures. Do you seriously think that when people say “Igbo” or “Igbos”, that they meant ALL Igbos?

    • Sharp Sharp

Fulani herdsmen have already declared war on the south and it’s human to take steps to vigorously defend our selves by any means necessary !! If war is the price for liberty so be it !! Ende

    • SayNo2Tribalism

I share your sentiment. Majority of those shouting Biafra today did not witness the war. Ojukwu disobeyed his own father and declared war. The people who need Nigeria more are the Igbos because they have more investments outside of their region. That is why none of the wealthy, influential Igbos are shouting Biafra.
No one wants a repeat of “abandoned property” While many lost their landed properties after the war Ojukwu fought and got back his father’s properties at Ikoyi, Apapa etc. In this kind of situation it is the poor that suffers most. Unfortunately it is the poor that are being misled by people with agendas.

      • obiora

But why are Yoruba people not comfortable in this BIAFRA thing:

  • Dr Pat Kolawole Awosan

Nnamdi Kanu, had spent two years in the penitentiary and released on strict bail conditions. But, it appears Nnamdi Kanu, can not control himself as he continues to violates his strict bail conditions and his bail might have to be revoked and be re-arrested and sent back to the penitentiary where he belongs as number one enemy of Nigeria-state.

    • Abi Balogun

I don’t know where you come from Pat or whatever your name is, the man is asking for a referedum on Biafra, let the govt. grant him one and let the people of the east detemine their own fate. Why is that so hard for the govt. to understand. You cannot force people to belong in a union they are not comfortable with. They should have a choice in their own self determination.

      • simon tor gideon

The Nigerian constitution guarantees the indivisibility of Nigeria and unless that section of the constitution is expunged from our constitutional books the man`s selfish agigation will always remain a mirage. The Ibos are adequately represented in both the lower and upper arm of the federal legislature, why are they not sponsoring a bill to this effect? The man Kanu is only making noise to be recognised,by the time he is arrested for all these unwarranted acts and kept in the cooler,no body should open his smelly mouth to plead for his release. The time to tame him is now. This time he will be in Gashua prison and not Kuje.

        • Uzoma John

Thanks for guiding the fools giving support to Kanu. Why not ask their National Assembly representatives to sponsor a bill for referendum, which will ensure the Constitution is amended to that effect. I only see idiots who are going to die for nothing because of a nonentity like Kanu, whose nuclear family are away in the UK. He should recall his wife and kids back to “Biafra” land and declare this war he is drumming. Ndi ara. Kanu can’t do jack. Election will hold in Anambra come November. It’s time to incarcerate this efulefu permanently and throw the keys into the Atlantic Ocean.

      • Julius

Why don’t you advice them to go thru their reps in the National Assembly ? You know that they can files/sponsor a bill to that effect. Stop being lazy and fake. You and they know what to do. Enough of the lies !

    • Höly Wähala

Your sister Jumoke Akinjide spent no time in penitentiary and was granted liberal bail conditions yet, did she not abscond from bail until her surety was arrested for her irresponsibble action? Yoropigs should worry about the speck in your eyes before instigating trouble in Nigeria and watching from the shadows as the cowards you are. His bail was illegal as you cannot deny a person his fundamental human rights of Freedom of Speech, Freedom of Association and so on, in the spurious excuse of bail. Kanu et al, watched closely to see what would happen to those aboki boys up North who called for exactly the same thing IPOB are calling for: Ndigbo to return to the South East and leave Nigeria for ignorant cowards like you and your Fulani slavemasters. Go and arrest him nah make I see. Silly fake baba alawo like you, take his message and forget his bail conditions… evil tribe, always inspiring trouble but can’t stand and fight. PIG!

    • thusspokez

I agree with your sentiment except the “final solution” bit — Let’s no go there but I can understand your anger: The effing idiót got leniency — this wouldn’t happen anywhere else — and he returns the kindness with renews threats to Nigeria. You have to question the judgement of the AG and the judge who freed him.

      • Paschal Charles

Go and sit down . Nnamdi Kanu is only a freedom fighter . He had not threatened to kill any body , he only said there will be no election in all Biafra land if government fails to set a date for referendum for the exit of Biafrans from this big for nothing cage you call Nigeria . I wonder what is making most of you happy in this your one Nigeria project. Nigeria is the only country in the world without steady power supply . Last time I visited Burkina Faso and stayed one week and as poor as the country is I did not see light go off till I left the country. Togo , Benin , Ghana , Ivory Coast etc are all regarded as the world’s poorest countries but when you visit there you can’t see light go off there . Even if light is to go off they will announce it and it comes back after maintenance . Please Nigeria is a joke .

And you think that biafra will provide you electricity 24/7? If so, why are current Igbo governors not already doing so in their states?

Nigeria has abundance of sunlight for free. $60-100 millions long-term investment in solar panels and wind turbines should enable these state governments to provide electricity 24/7 in their states. But no, they are waiting for the federal government. Have you heard of ‘self-help’?

          • Paschal Charles

And you think that biafra will provide you electricity 24/7? YES Biafra will give us light 24/7, I have no doubt about that. Why are
current Igbo governors not already doing so in their states? Nigeria Federation does not permit state govt to do such projects and they have no budget for such projects . Please accept the truth that Nigeria is a failed state . If you are Youruba think of Oduduwa Repubic and if Arewa think of Arewa Repulic because Nigeria has failed and will continue failing till thy kingdom come . As for Biafrans we are already gone- BYE BYE

Bulus please go and fight the Fulani Herdsmen who are ravaging across Nigeria.

  • MilitaryPolice01

The lack of a visible leader since the departure of Dim Ojukwu has thrown up the likes of Kanu very sadly. But Nigerians must be clever enough to know that a majority of ndigbo though unhappy with the present marginalization especially by this present ethnic govt, do not agree with Kanu. If the supposed referendum is held today, 80% or more will vote to stay in a restructured Nigeria

    • A. Inalegwu

I agree with you. And that is smarter move to biafra then what they are doing right now. Because more region and ethnic group would have supported it.

    • thusspokez

The lack of a visible leader since the departure of Dim Ojukwu

Lack of a leader? If you say that Ojukwu was a leader, it would be a historical aberration because the Igbos, unlike other ethnic groups, never had a central figure, leader, monarch or chief — Chieftaincy is a new creation in Igbo land. The Igbos were never a monolithic group but subgroups scattered over the Sourh-east area. They have colonial Britain to thank for galvanising them into a single group, tribe, nation, culture, etc.,

Igbos are antidisestablishmentarians which is why historically, they never had a single leader. And we still see it today. For example, once a village creates a monarch, all nearby villages follow to create their own monarchs to. From zero monarch prior to the arrival of colonial British, Igbo now have more so-called monarchs than any other ethnic groups. And we are not even counting newly created Igbo-monarchs in (say) western Nigeria and elsewhere.

      • obinnna77

You who know us more than we know ourselves; we have a ‘leader’ now. Deal with it.

    • Paschal Charles

Organize the referendum and see the shock of your life . Maybe you meant 80% voting in favor of Biafra Republic. What is Nigeria ? As it stands now no body wants to identify himself with that nonsense name the British gave to you.

      • thusspokez

Well, if you want a referendum, pay for it !!! No one is stopping you.

And don’t ask the federal government to pay and organise it for you only for you to accuse it of ringing the votes when your side loses.

        • Paschal Charles

We are already in the process of referendum and the campaign is going on ,so don’t worry your self. Civil disobedience is one of the key tools being used to achieve freedom .Many countries like India used the same tool and it worked for them so Biafrans boycotting election in all Biafra land is a welcome development. I don’t know what you mean by South South – you can not be more South South than me, you can not also be more South South that Asari Dokubo, Tompolo , Achuzie and host of others . If you think Biafra is for Igbos alone then you need to carve out all Igbo communities in your so called South South because I am Igbo from Rivers State .

          • Mazi Efuna

Tell them nwanna, they are in denial of the strength of the bond between the people of Biafra. They forget that blood is thicker than water. Because of minor disagreement in the 60s, the wolfs zeroed in. Today, they pray that discord between brothers lingers so that they continue to draw the juice out of us squeezing ourselves.

          • Richard Wilson

me too am a biafra from river state

          • CICOGOG

    • Mazi Efuna

You have it upside-down, 80% will vote against Kanu. I really suggest a referendum soon. I also think that Biafra agitation will continue to gain popularity as Nigeria continues to delay the must come referendum, what do you think.

Igbo are running second to Yoruba in the free world in America, Canada, Europe and some free countries in Asia.
        Merit system would’ve help Nigerian.
That much we can agree on.
But putting Igbo’s beyond where they’re achievements level in an open competitive environment is disingenuous.

        • omnia1

Yorubas need ‘quota’ even more desperately than Hausa-Fulani, because Yorubas are a proud (sometimes vain) people who need to ”keep up appearances”. Yorubas have proven that they cannot compete with Igbos on a level playing ground.

To illustrate this reality we need to take a critical look at the two nations with the largest Nigerian community (UK and USA). In the absence of a ‘quota system’ the gap between Igbos and Yorubas (the largest population of Nigerians in both countries) is mind-boggling.

In USA Igbo immigrants are not only the most successful Nigerians, but the most successful immigrant black community. In fact, an American author (Amy Chua) wrote a book to try and explain this ‘Igbo phenomenon’. Igbos make up less than 1% of the black population in USA, yet in 2013 nearly one-quarter of the black students at Harvard Business School were Igbo; over a fourth have a graduate degree, as compared with only about 11% of whites. Most Nigerians in Ivy League schools are Igbos. The New England Council on higher education did a study in USA in 2012 that showed that Igbo Ivy League students are 38% of the entire minority population in Ivy League institutions. 38% and this includes other groups like the Koreans, Chinese etc. Almost incredible, but nonetheless true.

IN SHARP CONTRAST, Yorubas constitute the highest number of convicts in American prisons from Nigeria. Go to the federal prisons in Atlanta, Chicago, New York (Rikers Island), California, Houston, Dallas, Maryland, etc and you will see huge communities of Yoruba inmates.

In Britain, Chuka Umunna, Helen Grant, Chi Onwurah and Kate Ofunne Osamor were the very first 4 Nigerian MPs. ALL four are Igbos; and one could become the Labour party leader. Meanwhile Yorubas are historically more entrenched in the UK society. There are only two Nigerian Queen’s Counsel (QC) in the UK; both of them are Igbos. Meanwhile generations of Yoruba lawyers were called to the bar in the UK before the Igbos. Etc, etc.

IN SHARP CONTRAST and on the other side of the law, there are over 1280 people of Yoruba descent in British jails today, some for the most heinous of crimes. Source – Her Majesty’s Prison Survey on Overcrowding in British jails- report published in 2010.

Inside Nigeria itself the achievement gap starts right from childhood. For example in the Federal exams into secondary schools the Eastern States outperform all others. That is why Anambra, Abia and Imo States have the highest cut off points. Yet in spite of that the Igbo States produce the highest number of entries into schools like Kings and Queens College.

The SINGLE area of human endeavour where Yorubas consistently outperform Igbos is in pastorpreneurship (founding of big Aladura / Celestial/ Pentecostal churches) – the biggest churches in both Eastern and Western Europe belong to Yorubas. This is probably because Igbo Christian leaders are not as unscrupulous and Igbo Christian masses are not as gullible as Yorubas. Sadly, many of these churches are money-making scams and you need a sufficient number of ‘mugus’ as foundation members. Yorubas seem to have such mugus aplenty, unlike Igbos!

The Yorubas SHOULD be doing better – Yorubas received Western Education before Igbos . Awo gifted Yorubas both with free education and the bazaar that followed the indigenization decree. The same Awo starved Igbos, first of food, and later of funds; he reduced Igbos to paupers who owned no more than 20 pounds per family. However, the Yorubas are severely hampered by culture; the Hausas are severely hampered by religion; the Igbos are hampered mainly by the dying Hausa-Fula-Yoro conspiracy known as Nigeria. That conspiracy is about to end.

NOTE: Amy Chua’s book is titled ”The Triple Package: How Three Unlikely Traits Explain the Rise and Fall of Cultural Groups in America”; you can read a summary on Wikipedia. Most of the USA educational stats about Igbos are in the book.

Omnia, God Almighty created this world so that we humans can progress, seek happiness with our ingenuity in economy, education, science and so on and so forth. These are inelienable. What is a society with progress? So you guys are happy that Nigeria is not progressing? I think this is getting interesting. The social media is doing a lot of exposition about the mindset of the top notch enemies of Nigeria both in low and high places. The issue with Nigeria is not the unity we have not but the things and irregularities that are threatening the unity of Nigeria. Let no one decide you. Please make conscious efforts to read and know the history of Nigeria, this will help a lot.

        • omnia1

I do not understand you. Can you explain what you mean?

    • mbewalu ogodo

      Jesters everywhere..

    • CICOGOG

you are a very good dreamer. Referendum and you will be surprised to see the outcome infavour of Federal Repbulic of Biafra. This is a country that will not marginalise or dominate any rightful citizen. No body wants slavery. Humans are free moral agents. Nigeria is a dystopian state.

      Thank you.

  • A. Inalegwu

I am not sure this guy have taken into consideration the dynamics of Nigeria cultural and ethnicity or ethnic politics. Kanu and his supporters should first defined the boundary of the said Biafara. they are more questions then answer or direction from this guy. I wonder what the defined map of this new biafara they are agitating for look like. if it is the old Biafara map, are they holding consultation with the other ethnic groups in state like Rivers, Cross River, Bayelsa state, etc? or they feel they are speaking for them and their opinion do not count? it was reported last time that the igala people in Kogi state are angry because their lands were included in the biafara map? hmmm. if this agitation is based on the old map it means this guy is intellectually bankrupt to think the dynamics of politics have not change since the sixties. My advice, Those beating this drum should be ready to dance to their own tune.

    • Julius

It is not only the Igala people that do not want to be a part of his biafraud..all the other minorities around them are saying the same thing. Imagine forcing other tribes to be part of biafraud but like you said without consulting them. They think they can bully those people..we shall see.

    • thusspokez

The population of the Ijaws and Ibibios has increased a lot since the post-war, whereas, that of the Igbos has fallen — many died during the civil war. The Igbos cannot count on their size to dominate (say) the Ijaws, any more. And one more civil war will further reduce the size of their population, there!

      • Mazi Efuna

I guess you achieved your goal for the genocide right, and you are shouting one Nigeria. I am not sure the type of material God used in making the brain of black men especially those in Nigeria. Guys think for one day, there is no going back on Biafran.

        • Chuma Anierobi

Mazi Efuna what do you mean. What arrangement do you have for the refugees? People with sound mind are telling you the truth and you do not see it. When did you elect Kanu to speak for you? Do you know the reason for the GENOCIDE? If you do please educate me. Do you have idea how many non Ibos took part in the fight against the planned genocide?
Fela the great said trouble deh sleep inyanga go wakam up. I am not sure you ever heard the sound of a mortar shell.

      • obiora

Domination is Nigerian word of politics not in Biafra. So keep your Domination with you.

    • obiora

There is no need for any consultation as you said.Ndi-IGBO are not more Biafra than others. So if Ijaw people want to remain SLave then they are wellcome. If Ibibio want to be Salve it is their right. but I know that no Bifaran will like to be Nigerian Slave anymore.

      • A. Inalegwu

Obiora. Well spoken. But this is the very reason why territory need to be defined. Because you can’t even called or discussed the issue of referendum why that is not agreed upon. But in assure you that if cross river and rivers or Bayelsa and the coastal states fail to baifra be rest assured that it will be disastrous. Ask Qatar what it mean to be land locked country. The quest for freedom is every man right but at what cost to the biafrans. I think the voice of reason is to agitate for the restructuring of Nigeria Federation which other regions can relate to. If the Igbos in other state return home trust the humanitarian implication can only be imagine. The stand and direction Kanu is tolling is chaos which consequences can not even be imagine.

  • Rommel

I always thought that Nnamdi is a small boy and he has just proven me right, I urge the FG to ignore him completely

    • SayNo2Tribalism

It is clear they do not take him seriously. If some influential Igbos did not negotiate on his behalf he wouldn’t have gotten bail. He is just a dreamer looking for publicity. It will not surprise me if he contests an election in future.

      • Udacity Wii

        Keep waiting forever

    • obiora

Kanu and Biafrans said no Nigeria election come 2019 in Biafara Land only Referendum. Let us wait and see come 2019. Is that your problem?

  • Mazi Efuna

If not for Kanu, I would not be reading news out of Nigeria newspapers and this one has proven me right.

  • Justice Equity

Nnamdi KANU is mentally unstable, he is a big irresponsible f00l seeking for attention.
He doesn’t fully understand what he is fighting for,he is overwhelmed by pride, haughty spirit and self worship.
His own brand of Biafra gospel is stupid,F00lish and irresponsibly myopic to say the least.
Ojukwu told us about the gospel of Biafra of the mind,KANU on one hand venerates ojukwu and on the other hand preach a gospel that is at variant with ikembas gospel.
Nigerians and ibos must ignore nnamdi KANU and government must protect the lives and destinies of this young ignorant citizens been deceived and exploited by nnamdi KANU.
If for example ibos decides that Biafra of a territory is their ambition, is it a nonentity and bloated f00l like this mentally unstable nnamdi that is going to be the leader of the country Biafra?,what area of life’s endeavor is nnamdi KANU a champion, is in economics, medicine, business, law, science, technology, literature ,music, sports or academics.
Nnamdi is a tout and he must be stopped now from misdirecting the young jobless youths from pursuing meaningful endeavors.
All this hungry youths milling around KANU,how does he Carter for their well-being, what plan has he to develop them and empower them educationally or otherwise, can Nigeria and IBO land deal with the inevitable fallout of having a generation of able bodied young people mismage their prime time in staying idle and abandon their lives to the lies of KANU about an Utopian land of Eldorado.
Nigeria government must disperse this crowd of potential dangers now before another Mohammed Yusuf episode that brought about boko haram insurgency is replicated at eastern Nigeria.
All the sensible organized leadership of ibos have declared that we can not abandon the nation that was built by the uncommon patriotic zeal and labours of our fathers,we must restrategise to join hands with other brethren to rebuild the broken walls of our nation and make it a truly federal natiom

    • ed

You should look in the mirror for the mentally deranged.

    • obiora

      What is your problem Mister.?

      • Justice Equity

KANU is endangering the lives and the future of my young brothers and sisters with lies and propaganda.

  • dami

Kanu’s stupidity knows no bounds…I would of thought that he would contest governorship elections so as get immunity and have a louder mouth to channel his grievances through proper, peaceful and democratic means – common sense is not really common at all.

    • obiora

You can Start your own as you like.

    • Arkhuma

That’s a smart suggestion. Contest election, get immunity and start the process of total sedition. But I bet he will then realise that those who he thinks he is championing their cause are not with him because I have no doubt that he will woefully lose the election. That’s why this rhetorics will not work….a small chap from nowhere suddenly woke up and started asking the mates of his father’s who have worked all their lives to build and acquire businesses and properties in every nooks and crannies of the country to abandon their interest and head home to despair. Very very unreasonable.

      • Marshall Anthony

not possible this zoo is not recognized so lacks legitimacy God forbid he does that contest with herdsmen and jihadists thats an abomination

      • Sir Louis

        Very well said.

  • aisha ani

I don’t think the Governor of Enugu is aware that there will not be an election in his state in 2019.

    • obiora

You can then let him know.

    • Julius

lolz..you know it’s all a lie . They will all vote when the time comes !

  • omnia1

Nigeria is unworkable. It is a toxic marriage like Bangledish-Pakistan, Pakistan-India, Singapore-Malasia; UK-Ireland; Eritrea-Ethiopia and so many others (even Egypt and Sudan used to be one country; today 3 countries have emerged from that one country). Nigeria is the ONLY country of its size colonized by Britain that has not been divided for a better outcome. Let us stop punishing ourselves for nothing. The UK that created Nigeria has divided in our lifetime(into Britain and Ireland) and is preparing to divide again (into England-Wales and Scotland). Why are some hearts so evil that they want future generation to grow up in this mess you call a nation? God forbid!

    • ed

That’s the question that I keep asking my Yoruba brothers and sisters o.
We don’t like what’s happening but we seem to be afraid to work for our own independent Republic.

      • Julius

But you are still living among them ? Who is lying here ? Make you move, pack your bags and move back home like mosson and ipob has instructed you to. Then we will all know that you are serious and not a big, fat joke that I think you are now.

        • ed

You head need examination. As Yoruba Christian fighting for My Yoruba freedom, it’s sad to see Muslim in our community committed to slavish existence,

          • Julius

So you think insulting , name calling and lying about wanting a separation like your biafools friends are doing is a sign of bravery ? Why on earth would you say we are afraid ? Yeah sure, you are a Yoruba christian indeed. smdh !

    • BABUYANMA

      Go now. Stop making noise

      • etubom rex william

Who is making noise. Is it us or Nigeria. We are special if not we would have set free. When they hear d these two names everything start shaking in Nigeria. Biafra and Nnamdi kanu the lion of biafra. Even you like wise. If someone pass you. What you can do is jealousy. Instead of accepting you prevent dying with shame.

        • BABUYANMA

A LAZY, JOBLESS BUM is a lion?. I dey laugh ooooooooooooooooooooooo

  • BABUYANMA

Firing Squad would have put this Lazy Kanu to sleep. I don’t know what the federal government is waiting for. Treason is a death penalty case.

    • ed

The Kaduna declaration Youth are Fulani’s Northerners, that’s why they are not being arrested?

      • OJERINDE, Olatunde A.

I hope to see your biafrans leave the north for biafra by October 1st…..anything short of that would mean you really do not want biafra.

        • ed

          Olodo ode

    • UKVoter

First use your firing squad on the northerners who have declared Biafra. We thank them.

      • BABUYANMA

Treason is a CAPITAL offense. We Nigerians will celebrate with champagne on Kanu FIRING SQUAD day

        • ita ekpo

Lack of education put you to saying. Because anyone who goes to school will tell you what treason mean. I/2 education amount to illiteracy. Find out from real people like biafra to teach you comparison in english. That is where you have problem.

          • BABUYANMA

He is guilty, and we want Bar Beach Firing Squad Show. Fun time?

    • etubom rex william

Why federal govt not you. Because you see what they don’t see. You suppose to do your worse for federal to see then take action from where you stop.

  • ed

Kanu is leading his people out of the chain of slavish existence.

    • ita ekpo

If one pass in doing please praise him. Don’t be jealous because is not.

  • ita ekpo

One question i have for president, house a Nigeria as hold. If you doubt is not God in control of Nnamdi kanu. Who is he to give command everybody obey him. Nigeria you would be able to fight God kingdom Biafra. If Nigeria try the hold country will contnue to see what they have not seen before by God.. Is nigeria saying this as a threat to run back. but is left for you people to decide which way Nigeria. Because we see that injustice have been given to our people since inception of Nigeria. IPOB is not praying for war but nigeria do. Instead that evetything to work in peace Nigeria look for peaces. Yesterday have gun but let not the history of yesterday repeat itself. Because first run is a run and is not good for two time. Let British support you people but they will fail with what God is going to show them down in their land. From calamity to calamities.

  • A. Inalegwu

The words are cheap but when spoken can’t be retrieved but it’s impact last generations. Nigerians should give reason a chance. As I read the comments on this platform it shows how divisive this nation is divided on ethic and religious line. If the energy channel towards this debate, demonstration, and demand for good governance and accountability of leaders we will achieve more. I bet anyone when the conflict we are all drumming for starts. It’s the poor masses that will suffer. But the leaders that put us in this mess have their families oversees and will all fly out because the have resources and the common man will be confronted with death, hunger, starvation and malnutrition. Nigerians hear the voice of reason

    • Djong22

Wherever they are.. We must get them and we are everywhere unlike 1960’s.. We are counting their homes now.. We are learned not dunce.. Atleast, we have found out some and still looking for more

  • Olu-Lion

This igbo are beginning to irritate me, I am in full support of biafra and thank God the “terrorist” just agreed to give you 3months to vacate the “zoo” without any rancor and you guys are still foot dragging. Please I want to see packing actions not stories.

    • UKVoter

I’m igbo and I agree with you. With what the northerners have said, Biafra is already declared and people should just move, have an exodus and start living their lives in the east. Simple.

    • Djong22

Yet you are still sucking our oil.. Before mentioning that.. We will stop it flowing.. We have the power but that would be one of the last actions. Self determination is our sacred and inalienable right. Get that into your skull.

  • Sir Louis

Nnamdi Kanu is deluded. He is talking for himself and possibly a handful of his supporters in IPOB who may likely boycott the election. But for this commentator and millions of other Igbos all over Nigeria, we shall vote to enthrone a Nigerian leader who will help to shape the country of our dreams. Biafra belongs to our past history as Nigerians and Igbos. Igbos as an ethnic group did not send any body let alone Nnamdi Kanu on errand. Kanu is playing on emotions but this will not solve any one’s problem . At a time like these, Nigerians need more of reason than emotion.

    • Djong22

And you are wise… Where has your wisdom taken you? IBOP is the new face of Igbos and other Biafrans. If Joe Igbokwe with his hoodwink thinking should come down to east and let us know if he can stand to challenge Biafrans by testing his popularity not writing far away Biafra land.

    • etubom rex william

Mr Ghana must go money are you blink to see the hand writing on the wall. All you are saying if man pass man wetin happen jealousy and envy. Why because you see yourself where kanu is popular than you. But you can not do what he is doing. Because if this struggle is under your command biafra will go bankruptcy. This i meant buhari would have bought you and biafra and that will be the end. Is the main reason you not happy. I’m sorry brother biafra is not for sale by saborteur like you.

      • Sir Louis

Etubom, my brother. You can go ahead and declare Biafra and live in it with Nnamdi Kanu and other IPOB members. However, majority of Igbos are ready to work for a better and future Nigeria based on the principles of justice and fairness and which will be a home to all and sundry via restructuring and electing a committed, disciplined and patriotic leader in 2019.

        • etubom rex william

Now you and your restructuring fail. What do you think next. That Hausa fulani shows you that tbey can not leave in advice another region than making decision. That is why your hope fail. We biafrans we know all that. Our mumu e don do. Open your eyes if you can not shine.
