Acting President Yemi Osinbajo has arrived Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, a city troubled by repeated Boko Haram attacks in the past days.
Mr. Osinbajo was met on arrival by Governor Kashim Shettima and other officials of the state government as well as top military commanders in the city.
Scores of other dignitaries and kids lined up at the airport to receive the acting President who is in the state to flag off the Federal Government’s special relief intervention for the North-East geopolitical zone.
The Acting President arrived the state hours after the police said 17 persons were killed and 24 people injured in the coordinated attacks on Mosques in Maiduguri on Wednesday night.
Another vicious attack on the city earlier on Wednesday was repelled by the military.
The terrorists recently repeatedly targeted the University of Maiduguri deploying suicide bombers to detonate explosives there.
Mr. Osinbajo first visited Maiduguri on July 1, 2015, barely few weeks after the Buhari administration came to power.
In that surprise visit, he met internally displaced persons in their camps in the state capital.
See below video of the acting president’s arrival in the capital.
