Buhari calls Obasanjo, Kogi Governor

President Muhammadu Buhari making a call

President Muhammadu Buhari on Sunday, via telephone conversation from London, felicitated with a former president, Olusegun Obasanjo, on the occasion of his 80th birthday.

Femi Adesina, the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the President, confirmed this development in a statement he issued in Abuja on Sunday.

According to the president, who is on medical vacation in London, a time like this provides opportunity to reflect on Mr. Obasanjo’s invaluable roles and contributions to the unity and cohesion of Nigeria, the brotherhood of all Africans, as well as peace and amity over the globe.

Mr. Buhari described the former president as “a true citizen of the world”.

While recalling their days in the military, President Buhari said: “”Those of us who served under you in various capacities recall a man with boundless energy, with razor sharp mind, and one who does not suffer fools gladly. Working with you was a school in itself, and the lessons learnt are worth their weight in gold.”

The statement said: “”Chief Obasanjo wished President Buhari good health, adding he stands together with him in prayers, so that he can return soon to continue the good work he is doing for the country.’’

Mr. Obasanjo was Nigeria’s former military ruler (1976 to 1979) and democratically elected president (1999 to 2007).

Earlier, the president spoke with Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi.

A government house statement issued in Lokoja said that Mr. Buhari, who made the call in the evening, interacted with the governor for a couple of minutes.

The Director General on media and strategy to the governor, Kingsley Fanwo, who signed the statement, said Mr. Bello received the call in Lagos on his way back from Abeokuta, where he attended the inauguration of Obasanjo Library.

“The President thanked the governor for his support and his leadership qualities.

“He told the governor that he was observing rest and will return very soon to continue his assignment of providing purposeful leadership to the nation,” Mr. Fanwo said.

He said Mr. Bello received the call in the presence of the Speaker of the state house of assembly, Ahmed Imam, some members of the house, commissioners and top government functionaries.

The president has been in the UK for over 40 days on medical vacation during which period, his deputy, Yemi Osinbajo, has acted as president.

God will restore your health in Jesus’ name

    • Bello Sule

That is very good of Mr. Samuel. May you also be blessed by God the almighty for your generosity in prayers for the President. Have a blessed night rest Sam.

      • Otile

Is Abu Yahaya Bello not the un-elected Mohammedan man who robbed the rightful Governor James of his position? Had James been a moslem by name Jamai he would retain his position as the Governor of Kogi state today. If Imam Buhari was a just man James would not be left woebegone. Islam is not a religion of peace at all.

    • Otile

      Samson.
Imam Mohamed Buhari is a Mohammedan not a Christian. He does believe that our Lord Jesus can restore him to live. Perhaps his mind is now in Ajinat Fridaus where he hopes to inherit good virgins. But if troops under his command massacred Shiites and Ndigbo hell fire awaits him. All say amen.

      • Mikogo

When God charged us to pray for our leaders He did not say our leaders must be Christians. Christian! God don’t even know what that is!

        • Senator D

“Christian! God don’t even know what that is!”… Really? That god you are talking about MUST be so daft and an imbecile…Gerraway from here!!!

      • Senator D

They forget that Jesus goes to where HE is CELEBRATED NOT where HE is tolerated… People never learn…

  • Romberg

‘Phony’ president. Keep calling. Remember you have been told to rest…. rest, just keep your mind off leadership. The Nigeria without you is keeping her head up, rising from the gully you plunged her.

Rest Buhari. Maintain a peaceful silence while you rest. By all immutable elements, Nigeria will remain while all of us are long gone.

    Rest!

  • Otile

This is ridiculous, after 40 days and 40 nights in medical exile they are now telling us what Buhari thinks about the rulers he likes. We would also like to hear what he is saying about the Shiites, Biafrans, people of the SS and the victims of Fulani massacres. Imam, talk to us all not the selected few. You are always making your rule very parochial, and nepotistic. Haba mallam.

“I sympathise with Nigerians for voting Buhari. We have a president who doesn’t have a friend outside the North
and that’s a tragedy. As I am talking to you, I am convinced that President Buhari’s presidency is dead. He may
be physically alive and I wish him good health, but as far as governance is concerned, his presidency is dead
and nothing can be done to resuscitate it. A presidency can be alive in terms of a leader, but in terms of
programmes and achievements it can be dead and historically forgotten”.

    Muhamadu BUHARI is irresponsible

MUHAMADU BUHARI is naturally irresponsible. He has no sense of responsibility.
A clerk in an oil company has much better sense than Muhamadu Buhari shows.
Since 19th January Buhari has never thought it right to address Nigerians who
elected him into office. He’s been in hiding since 19th January – doing nothing,
and yet putting his hands forwards to collect full pay and allowances as if he’s
on duty, without declaring himself sick or tendering a sick leave authorized by
any doctor. That is the height of irresponsibility by anyone employed to work.
Buhari is too local, too backward and closer to an illiterate, to be a president.
Buhari is the worst mistake Nigerians ever made – the worst conspiracy ever.
Nigeria wouldn’t be in recession Buhari plunged it in if he dis-appeared now.

to leave. How can he have a broken body and a distracted mind and retain the strength and focus to lead Nigeria out of social, political, and economic turmoil? I speculate Buhari is suffering from either a kidney failure or pancreatic cancer, but even if Buhari comes back home, we all know his policies of the last two years have left the country almost completely stagnate.”

Muhamadu Buhari only made history as the first sitting president ever to be referred to the
international Tribunal on Genocide, within six [6] months of taking office after an election,
to investigate his command and control as the commander- in-chief with the ultimate
culpability for 347 Nigerians killed by some invading Nigerian soldiers, who were
thereafter dumped in mass graves in Kaduna state, Nigeria.

Buhari killed himself with his own hands. That’s why nobody is sorry fr him.
He had public support during the campaign and came into office with arrogance,
and without any sense of modesty as a Primary Six certificate holder, as he started
behaving anyhow, as if he was the best thing the world has ever seen after sliced bread.

At any opportunity like this he wanted to talk to CNN, BBC and Al Jazeera without a sense of modesty
that his Primary Six education would disgrace him before graduate journalists conducting the interview.
When he was disgraced at his first Media Chat in Nigeria, he was chained by his media advisers, but then,
it was too late, because Buhari had become a laughing stock in the international community as an illiterate.
Simply to prove he’s not yet dead he does not have any gumption how to do so credibly – he keeps fumbling!

      • Senator D

His media team are all a total fiasco… I fear they too have lost their right to professionalism even after they leave power… Femi Adesina shouldn’t have taken that job… Now his reputation has become tattered and shredded into tiny bits. Why the Buhari government failed totally

In a way three (3) people brought
down this Buhari government. Number one is Raji Fashola who was announced on
3rd September 2015 as a financial crimes suspect by the anti-corruption ICPC and
scheduled for arrest. Once Buhari announced the same Raji Fashola as his
Minister for Electricity two huge disasters fell on Buhari immediately. The
Buhari government instantly lost credibility as a haven for criminals and
Buhari began to look like a financial crimes suspect himself, as people
believed the only reason he obstructed justice was because he received a
portion of Raji Fashola’s loot as campaign finance. The second huge disaster
was that Raji Fashola has proved to be the most incompetent in Buhari’s
shambolic Minister and has generated zero megawatts of electricity more
frequently than not, and put Nigeria in perpetual darkness.

      • Point Blank

        @austine007:disqus

…….(2) Why the Buhari government failed totally

The second person who shamed and
disgraced the Buhari government is Sanusi Lamido Sanusi – an audit proved
financial criminal who dis-appeared’ 1.4 trillion Naira in his scandal-ridden tenure
as unlikely Governor of Central Bank. A federal government audit report detailing
the 1.4 trillion theft was long ago handed over to Buhari, in fact since 30th May
2015. Till today, Buhari has neither arrested nor arraigned Sanusi Lamido for
stealing under Nigeria’s Penal Code. Buhari is believed to accord impunity to
Sanusi Lamido on tribalist and Islamist grounds (as a kinsman and as a fellow
        Jihadist
). The third bad person who then brought Buhari government down is
Bukola Saraki who stole anything capable of being stolen and ran rings round
Buhari in the last two years without forfeiting a kobo of his loot; and yet, sitting
pretty still as President of the Senate. Both Bukola Saraki and Sanusi Lamido
exposed Buhari’s hypocrisy as uselessly weak ruler with no true convictions to
fight any corruption, but to cover it up.

        • Senator D

Even Bubu’s die-hard supporters agree that Buhari’s so-called fight against corruption is NOT transparent. I have been with the so-called “forces that be” in Nigeria and I know how they see Bubu’s anti-corruption stance. Do you know President Jacob Zuma’s Visit in 2016 to Nigeria was to cover-up the MTN scandal? I felt ashamed when in a certain meeting I was told that Buhari knows where he can take his anti-corruption fight to. If NOT they will bring down his government with revelations that will make the Panama papers a child’s play. That is when I knew of secret properties and investments linked to Buhari. I was shocked to my bones. You see in this life NEVER assume no-one knows your secrets… No wonder he was finding it difficult to release his assets declaration…That was when I understood that WE were deceived into believing he was the MESSIAH we hoped for!

      • Senator D

I know Fashola and he has administration deficit of the highest order. However, I do not know what informed Bubu to appoint him a “Super Minister”… The guy raped Lagos and I have gone round Lagos and understood that Fashola was an Elitist governor NOT really the people’s governor. He ”worked” only in the areas where his praise can be sung NOT where it would have maximum impact like the Rural areas in Ajegunle, Okokomaiko, Isashi, Iba and so on…

        • Eko ti baje ju

@austine007:disqus : You have a point. But it was not a question of elitist versus rural; no!
Raji Fashola was robbing the treasury to a cumulative amount of 800 billion Naira in
Lagos state. That is the issue! STEALING – not elitist – but outright thievery!!

Raji Fashola submitted forged handover note in 2015 saying he received 2.34 trillion Naira
as total revenue in his fraudulent 8-year tenure. That handover note was forgery. Later, his Commissioner for Planning Ben Akhabueze told Punch newspaper that not less than ₦400 billion
was received as gross revenue in each of those eight years, meaning the gross revenue should
be ₦3.2 trillion, and not the 2.3 trillion Naira Raji Fashola fraudulently understated to cover up
the missing and therefore stolen sum of ₦800 billion from the Lagos state treasury under his
          rogue maladministration.

      MY CHILDREN,

How are you all? I am just waking up. Very hot. No light for my fan to work. Government is not working.
The Raji Fashola boy they put there is like dunce. They need to change him. I am reading this thing
about President Buhari doing BUSINESS CENTRE in London. I now ask my neighbour if it is okay for
President of Nigeria to be doing business centre. All the business centre around me here in Warri are
closing down. No electricity for them to do photocopy.

My neighbour now told me it is not okay. He told me that our Constitution says no president must do business centre. He showed me one place inside the Constitution and explain it to me that a president can only plant cassava, palm tree, yam and so on, but not be doing business centre of phone call and photocopy.

Since that is the case what you have to do now is do powerful letter to Senate that Buhari is violating the Constitution of Nigeria in London by doing photocopy and phone call per minute business centre. The Senate
will now invite him to come and explain himself. The other tribal mark man Buhari phone too, who says he is 80
years old in Otta, must also be summoned to explain if he too cannot read and write, like Buhari since this law
is inside the Constitution of Nigeria.

  • Senator D

Investing in Business Center in London seem to be the in-thing now. The way Bubu is just calling and calling different people. It’s time to relocate to London because the cost of doing Business in Abuja is becoming “Buharicious” especially with Fashola refusing to generate electricity for us and NNPC hiking fuel price deceptively…
