Release Nnamdi Kanu to douse tension, Cleric tells Nigerian govt

The Archbishop of Anglican Diocese of Enugu, Emmanuel Chukwuma, has implored the Federal Government to release the detained Biafran activist, Nnamdi Kanu.

Mr. Chukwuma made the appeal in Enugu on Tuesday while speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

He said some leaders of the zone had expressed the need to release the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra.

The archbishop assured the government that leaders and elders in the South East were ready to contain Mr. Kanu and his group to bring lasting peace to the country.

“We continue to say it that Mr. President should grant amnesty to Nnamdi Kanu at this time around for peace to reign.

“The continual detention of Kanu will continue to bring agitations and tension in Nigeria; I have said it before that this must be doused by releasing Kanu.

“We, Igbos and we Christians are ready to put him under control. There should be no fear at all.

“The President and people in government should not be afraid.

“We have said it even to the Sultan when he visited Enugu that it is injustice for a court to declare him innocent and still detain him.

“Nnamdi Kanu is not a threat to Nigeria, rather they should use his ideas to develop Nigeria,’’ he said.

Mr. Chukwuma, a member of the South East Elders Forum, also urged the Federal Government to continue to create an all-inclusive government.

“This will give all zones fair and equal representation in the nation’s development and progress,’’ he said.

Archbishop, it is highly unlikely that religious and tribal elders can contain Nnamdi Kanu. His agitation has gone too far for him not to appear cowardly if he simmers down. You will turn him into the likes of Asari Dokubo who have since become quiet millionaires while their peoples’ assets continue to be raped and expropriated the Nigerian State.
Allow the struggle to run its course.
I am NOT Igbo nor a supporter of Biafra, but I know this entity called Nigeria only survives on internal enslavement of the Niger Delta people.

    • Keep deceiving yourself. Keep celebrating thieves like Ibori and expect the Niger Delta to be developed. You better wake up from your bad dream.

So it has come clear that the Igbo elders are the ones who push KANU, since they are saying that the government should use his ideas and release him to them -Igbo and Christians- what a people! Na Hausa people be una match, that’s why God created U, a minority for them to deal with una.

Infact I am surprise to hear that the cleric said we igbo and we Christian. His statement means it’s Christian and Igbos that are sponsoring kanu to wage war against the state Nigeria.

Please Reverend Father respect your esteemed position and desist from being a tribalistic. The man has declared war on Nigeria; so he should not be released. If he is to be released, then Zakzaky, Boko Haram terrorists, Kidnappers and other detained criminal elrments should released as well. This man KANU IS A THREAT TO THE NIGERIAN ENTITY. What differentiate him from Shekau. Both of them are agitating to declare a new country of their own.President Buhari ignore this ranting from this so called man of God.

  • Where is the so called tension? f there is tension it only exists on the social media and inside the head of this idle and tribalistic archbishop. If you visit Enugu, Onitsha, Umuahia, Aba, Owerri, Nnewi etc., it is business as usually. Who did not celebrate Christmas in the east because Kanu is in prison? Kanu is nonentity. Life goes on without Kanu. This political archbishop must be out of his mind.

“You must come out to support what we are doing. We need guns, and we need bullets…To kill somebody is very difficult for us, so to ask a gathering of igbo people that we need guns and bullets, and weapons would be very very difficult to address, but without it, Hausa people will barrage us.”

Which tension? Which court released him? Icheoku customary court? Which government is afraid of him? This bishop s a arch-tribalism and he should not be taken seriously.

Kanu must be tried. He needs to be taught some manners. And he must go to jail. Let the heavens fall
