Former Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Eyitayo Jegede, on Monday emerged the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party for the Ondo State governorship election.
Mr. Jegede, a Senior Advocates of Nigeria, scored 760 votes to beat Saka Lawal, his only rival, who scored only 22 votes.
Mr. Jegede, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, had on July 23 resigned his appointment in preparation to contest the governorship election come November this year.
His aspiration is presently creating disquiet within the party, as he is seen as Governor Olusegun Mimiko’s anointed candidate.
Some aspirants under the PDP had protested the seeming imposition, saying it might result in the party failing to win the governorship election.
Mr. Jegede, is from Akure in the Ondo Central senatorial district, just like Mr. Mimiko.
