The National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Ali Modu Sheriff, has announced the suspension of the party’s national convention scheduled to take place in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital.
Mr. Sheriff, who addressed journalists at around 3pm, Saturday, at the Conference Room of the Le Meridien Hotel, Port Harcourt, said there were currently three court orders issued against the party convention.
“We want to be seen as a law-abiding party,” Mr. Sheriff said, reading from a prepared text.
“We will ask the delegates to go home.”
Thousands of PDP delegates gathered at the Port Harcourt Civic Centre are obviously unaware of the development.
