Petrol new pump price: DPR begins enforcement in Plateau

Filling Station

The Department of Petroleum Resources has begun visiting filling stations in Plateau to ensure major and independent marketers comply with the new pump price of N86.50 per litre as directed by the Federal Government.

In Pankshin, officials of the department visited the central and southern zones of the state to ensure total compliance.

The department’s team Leader and Human Resources Assistant, Habib Yahaya, said in Pankshin on Saturday that it was useful for both major and independent marketers to comply with the new pump price.

“All NNPC Mega Stations are expected to sell the fuel at a pump price of N86.00 per litre while major and independent marketers are suppose to sell at N86.50 per litre.

“Anything above these two official pump prices would attract serious sanctions from our department, ’’ he said.

Mr. Yahaya expressed concern over the attitude of some of the independent and major marketers who he accused of avoiding them.

“When they heard we are coming they quickly closed down and ran away from the filling station so that we could not check the volume of what they had in stock,’’ he observed.

Mr. Yahaya called on the public to alert DPR of any erring filling station that would not sell at the official pump price of N86.50.

“This because we are aware that most of the operators of these filling stations revert to old prices of their choices whenever we are out of their domain, ’’ he said.

The DPR official warned that any filling station caught flouting the directive of the government would face the wrath of the department.

He pledged that the DPR would do all it could to ensure that motorists and commuters were not subjected to hardships.

You are just going there to get money from them, and give them the power to sell at 130. stop this trash no were in this country is fuel sold at even 100 per liter.

  • Hassan Lawal

With the present leadership of DPR ,i can bet with all the monies in the world that this President wont achieve his target in the oil sector.
……my dear, this DPR is a scam, the worst department in the oil sector,i can tell you convincingly that NURTW would do better handling regulations in the sector.

How i wish the President starts the war against corruption from there,i have never seen a bunch of government workers that are so disloyal and uncommitted
…..they aid atrocities in the sector,…
…they leaked information and aid noncompliance
……majority of its workers are owners of filling stations, almost everywhere in major cities across the country
…..the place is a replicate of Aso-rock under GEJ or Turai!

    • musa aliyu

I concur. The DPR moguls aid and abet this crime. They should be scrapped. All DPR staff are stinking rich with corrupt take from filling stations they help milk the citizenry. In Zaria fuel is still #120/litre and it’s just stone throw to Kaduna. With a lot of DPR officials as indigenes of the place, the marketers have easy ways to cheat on the people.

      • share Idea

To your type, GEJ was corrupt, judiciary very corrupt, PDP is full of corrupt people, every government establishment is corrupt except Buhari and his APC members, Nigeria we hail thee.

  • Nigeriamovingforward

The govt should just remove the subsidy and allow the market to determine the price. It might be high in the beginning but the market equilibrium will determine the price in the long run.

    • bigbang

The government is not paying subsidy right now. The price of oil is so low.The price should actually be lower than 86.50N per litter.

  • saheedl

The DPR should not only close the filling station. They should seize the petrol they have and then demolish the filling station. The crime will stop.

  • fishhook

    Never mind.
2nd term is coming whether APC like it or not.
    People cannot be fooled.

  • bikky

For almost six months we truly battle for fuel and fuel prices, DPR did not have solutions solutions, nonsense.
