“Boko Haram has reverted to using improvised explosive devices (IEDs); indoctrinating
young guys, they have now been reduced to that. But articulated conventional attacks
on centres of communication and populations, they are no longer capable of doing that
effectively. Boko Haram has been reduced to fighting with improvised explosive devices (IED)
and remains a force only in its heartland of Borno State. So, I think technically, we have won
the war because people are going back into their neighborhoods. Boko Haram as an organized
fighting force, I assure you that we have dealt with them.”

“Today, I can report that the war against Boko Haram is largely won.
I can confidently say this because just recently, I led a group of 33
journalists from both the local and international media to the hotbed
of the insurgency, that is, Maiduguri, Kondugua, Kaoure and Bama.

Today, I can report to you that the entire 70 plus kilometres stretch
from Maiduguri to Bama and all the way to Banki which leads to Cameroun
and the Central African Republic are in the hands of our gallant troops.
They have so degraded the capacity of Boko Haram that the terrorists
can no longer hold on to any territory just as they can no longer carry out
    any spectacular attack.”

The Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, said on Wednesday that the Nigerian military had met the December deadline to defeat the Boko Haram terrorists.

The minister said this during his maiden meeting with editorial heads of media houses in Lagos.

President Mohammadu Buhari had, upon assuming office, issued a December 31 deadline to the military to defeat the Boko Haram terrorists.

“Today, I can report that the war against Boko Haram is largely won.

“I can confidently say this because just recently, I led a group of 33 journalists from both the local and international media to the hotbed of the insurgency, that is, Maiduguri, Kondugua, Kaoure and Bama.

“Today, I can report to you that the entire 70 plus kilometres stretch from Maiduguri to Bama and all the way to Banki which leads to Cameroun and the Central African Republic are in the hands of our gallant troops.”

He said the military presence could be felt ”every few metres along the road; at a point along that road we were just a kilometre to Sambisa forest.

This desperate attack by the Book Haram makes me believe the Military had actually dealt with them. People shld look at it as a desperate moves by the Book Haram which will be repel by our gallant troops. I know some Dull head thinks otherwise, so over to u Wailing wailers who ar blind and will not see anything good with this country.

    • Abdul A.

Bros, you are a very wicked man. What do the dead or families of the dead know about wailers? Jonathan is gone. The buck stops at Buhari’s table. Lives have been lost. We need to find a way out. Not talking and bothering about wailers.

    • Truthman

They are responding to the declaration of victory. Not a very wise decision to declare victory so quickly. Not if they understood the Art of War.

    • AlBsure23

You are so wicked and inhuman.

      • Really sad that this has happened. My heart goes out to the deceased, may their families get the fortitude to bear their irreplaceable losses.
Now to your accusation that a person who has spoken the truth is wicked and inhumane, I say you don’t score points by doing ad hominem.
The truth remains that boko haram have no territory in Nigeria under their control, a situation that the PDP couldn’t give us. Boko haram lost all territories in this administration. Attacks from terrorists (boko haram or not), does not in any way show the terrorists are an organized military force, else we can safely claim there’s an organized terrorist military force in France and USA. Organized militaries have clearly defined boundaries and territories, this is what terrorists in these countries as well as Nigeria don’t have. So yes, boko haram is defeated. Their attacks, though really sad, simply show their desperation at regaining relevance. And when they strike, some Nigerians, rather than describe their attacks as what it truly is (a desperate attempt at relevance), feed their morale by insisting the untrue, that our military is lying to us.
May the deceased rest in peace. May we (the whole world), succeed in our fight against terrorism. May we prevail in our struggle against opposition to our freedom.

        • Suleiman

But Jonathan left no occupied territories at the eve of his handover. So what is this ruse about no territory is being occupied by BH as if there is no continuity in government. Can you people at least use your brains? We are behaving as if this is 1960 when Nigerians took over from the Brits. Can any one say in all honesty that Jonathan did not do anything good for this country? We are now enjoying light because Jonathan changed the Power Grid lines, something that has not been done by any administration since Kainji Dam was constructed by the Gowon Administration. Remember, the current government has not spent a penny on both Electircity and the purchase of arms. So what is this hype about their success all about? Haba, Nigerians, use your heads for once. Don’t be blinded by this so-called change that is building a bridge to on where. This people will spend their four years blaming Jonathan and yet they campaigned on the change mantra. Please you should give us the change you promised and stop blaming the previous administration, unless if change means lying to Nigerians. Obama spent the first three years blaming Bush until Americans told him to focus on his campaign promises and leave Bush alone. Obama lost both the Senate and the House before he realized that there is no gain in the blame game. The same fate will befall APC if they don’t stop this blame game. If elections were to be conducted today, I believe the APC will fail woefully at the polls. This party has nothing to offer Nigerians. Change simply meant the replacement of a Southern Minority Christian with a Hausa-Fulani Muslim. Those of you who don’t get should get it now! The Yorubas were misled by Tinubu and Odetola because the duo were simply interested in their personal gains, the Oil Subsidy! The duo is not interested in the survival of the Nigerian state, but their selfish and unethical accumulation of ill gotten wealth. You dumb-headed blind followers of APC should get this message now!

          • There’s really no need to insult your countrymen simply because they disagree with you, no need to even take offence, I mean, it’s just an argument.
“Jonathan left no occupied territories at the eve of his handover”. Are you really serious about that?
Our military kept reclaiming territories and announcing these after Jonathan’s administration. Are you implying that our military reclaimed these territories from themselves again?
Statements like “You dumb-headed blind followers of APC” don’t automatically make your position right. It only sounds insulting and that’s all.
Like I said, let’s argue objectively.
Let’s argue and not insult. Insults don’t add any weight to our arguments, they do a great disservice to sound and mature discussions.
We were Nigerians before becoming party supporters let’s not argue along party lines.
Let’s argue for the sake of revealing truth, and learning. This will in the long run serve our nation well.

          • Buchi

My submission is that the present administration is going as if they’ve got no concrete vision for Nigeria apart from their change mantra. This is not about bringing them to the same page with the past ill govts while they still stand a chance of redeeming themselves but about the people that voted them to power, about Nigerians that are killed on daily basis, about the faltering economy, about the unemployed youths, about the rate of illiteracy especially among women, about the increasing tide of frustration, about divisions in all corners of the country, about our image abroad…This and many of such should bring us to the real issue. We have all lost the little values that our fathers bequeathed unto us. We need to find our voice, our core value again. It’s not really about laying more emphasis on corrupt people, parading them as national heroes but on establishing good and robust institutions that will not only curb corruption but also spur our children to embrace the right ideals.

          • Malchine

They have not told us how much Nigeria has earned since May 29. They have not told us how much was saved by not having ministers for more than five months. They have all the time to blame the last administration. These people cannot manage electoral victory. Neocolonialism in the making.

        • Iniabasi Akpan

An attack is an attack…wether they have a basevor not.don’t u think so.its sheer foolishness to try n divert d subject matter.people were killed…finish.& under d watch of d APC led govt.
Not all Nigerians r gullible. So stop pointing ur leprous fingers at d wrong direction..

          • No need for insults in a civilized argument bro. Disagree if you must, insult none. My point is: while the attacks are really unfortunate, citing them to mean boko hasn’t lost control of the war misrepresents the fact. I gave examples of countries over which you’ll agree terrorists have no form of control even though they experience terrorist attacks. Can you refute that? If the American army says Isis has no control whatsoever on their land, would you call them liars simply because they experience random terrorist attacks, Isis attacks? I’m simply asking that we be objective and use same lines of reasoning for same situations whether it’s Nigeria we’re talking about or not.
Our military never said terrorism had ended. They said the terrorist boko haram group has been defeated and reduced to a position where they can only carry out attacks like the one we’ve now experienced. Our military assured us that no single ground in our nation is under the control of boko haram. I’m saying, calling them liars because boko haram (now unorganized geographically) attacked, isn’t reflecting reality.

        • abodes_124

may we also honestly define the nature and size of our problems so that we can have a chance of solving them

        • Malchine

How did you get your information? Did the votes on March 28 show that there were territories occupied by Boko Haram where votes were not cast? The chickens will come home to roost some day, oh sorry, this Naija, the chickens will be eaten up by hawks.

Boko Haram uses the woman and her Hijab to bomb their adversaries. Boko Haram impregnates as many women as they can to spread their offspring and ideals into society. An educated and successful woman is likely to reject religious extremism. Educated people are harder to control. Why is no one speaking out about the tendencies of extreme terrorists? The subject is being avoided by journalists and leadership.

  • Awolo

I bet Liar Mohammed will be working very hard now to dream up another lies to Nigerians. These people cannot run this country with all its complexities. Those lying wretch in APC will continue to lie until they will have no lies left. That is the time will throw in the towel and beg PDP and their gullible followers to forgive them.

Boko Haram attack Falsifies President Buhari

Both President Buhari and Alhaji Lai Muhammed are falsified by this attack in Maiduguri.
They both said Boko Haram has been so defeated it can only place improvised explosive
device by the roadside. But that’s not what’s going on now. What’s been reported here is a
coordinated fighting unit of Boko Haram infantry driving in a military convoy into Maiduguri –
precisely what President Buhari said on Dec 24th has been rendered impossible. Boko Haram
militiamen not only drove into the city they dug in for pitched infantry battle with Nigerian army.
In military terms, that’s not a defeated militia by any means, especially given that Maiduguri is
the Nigerian army’s command and control centre in the fight against Boko Haram, according to
President Buhari’s deployments of army formations in June. Now, Buhari has to explain this.

       Nigerians need to wake up.

Buhari Budgets N1.75Billion For His Feeding in 2016.

The Nigerian President, Dr Muhammadu Buhari has allocated the sum of N1.75 billion for his feeding for the year 2016. This implies that Buhari will be spending N4.7 Million everyday (around £15,913.86 a day) on food.

Although Buhari promised Nigerians that he will cut cost against what was obtainable in the last administration, his feeding budget was increased by 70% from last year’s budget.

Former President Goodluck Jonathan was abused for budgeting N1billion for the Presidency during his tenure. On therefore wonders why Nigerians are silent when Buhari doubled his feeding budget. See the double speaking Nigerians are quiet because an Ijaw man whose oil resources were used to feed the Nigerian Nation for over 60 years————-has no right to spend 1b for feeding in Aso Rock—But Fulani Buihari ati his Yoruba backers whose ancestors contributed nothing towards the development of Nigeira, has the right to spend 1.75b for his feeding——————–Separation is the only way out-not the rule of the Fulani s ati Yoruba traitors

On a more serious note I hope our military analysts [if such exist] are aware that the premature announcement of victory by the Nigerian government will goad Boko haram to mount a large scale attack either to take over a prominent town or make a significant inroad into Maidugri. Our Military should prepare and watch out for this and hopefully wrong foot them.
